Lamentações 5

1 Lembra-te, Senhor, do que tem acontecido conosco;

olha e vê a nossa desgraça.

2 A nossa herança foi entregue aos estranhos,

e as nossas casas, aos estrangeiros.

3 Somos órfãos de pai;

as nossas mães são como viúvas.

4 Temos que comprar a água que bebemos;

a nossa lenha, só conseguimos pagando.

5 Aqueles que nos perseguem estão bem próximos;

estamos exaustos e não temos como descansar.

7 Os nossos pais pecaram e já não existem,

e nós recebemos o castigo pelos seus pecados.

8 Escravos dominam sobre nós,

e não há quem possa livrar-nos das suas mãos.

9 Conseguimos pão arriscando a vida,

enfrentando a espada do deserto.

10 A nossa pele está quente como um forno,

febril de tanta fome.

11 As mulheres foram violentadas em Sião,

e as virgens, nas cidades de Judá.

12 Os líderes foram pendurados pelas mãos;

não se mostra nenhum respeito aos idosos.

13 Os jovens trabalham nos moinhos;

os meninos cambaleiam sob o fardo de lenha.

14 Os líderes já não se reúnem às portas da cidade;

os jovens cessaram a sua música.

15 A alegria fugiu do nosso coração;

as nossas danças se transformaram em lamentos.

16 A coroa caiu da nossa cabeça.

Ai de nós, porque pecamos!

17 Por esse motivo, o nosso coração desfalece,

e os nossos olhos perdem o brilho.

18 Tudo porque o monte Sião está deserto,

e os chacais perambulam por ele.

19 Tu, Senhor, reinas para sempre;

o teu trono permanece de geração a geração.

20 Por que, então, te esquecerias para sempre de nós?

Por que haverias de desamparar-nos por tanto tempo?

21 Faz-nos voltar para ti, Senhor, e voltaremos;

renova os nossos dias como antigamente,

22 a não ser que já nos tenhas rejeitado completamente

e a tua ira contra nós não tenha limite!
