Apocalipse 4

O trono no céu

1 Depois dessas coisas, olhei, e eis que diante de mim havia uma porta aberta no céu, e a voz que eu tinha ouvido falar comigo no princípio, como de trombeta, disse:

— Suba para cá, e mostrarei a você o que deve acontecer depois dessas coisas.

2 Imediatamente, vi-me em Espírito, e eis que havia um trono no céu, e alguém sentado nele. 3 Aquele que estava assentado era de aspecto similar à pedra de jaspe e ao sardônio. Um arco-íris, semelhante a uma esmeralda, circundava o trono. 4 Ao redor do trono havia vinte e quatro outros tronos, e neles estavam sentados vinte e quatro anciãos. Eles estavam vestidos de branco e na cabeça tinham uma coroa de ouro. 5 Do trono saíam relâmpagos, vozes e trovões. Diante dele estavam acesas sete lâmpadas de fogo, que são os sete espíritos*4.5 Ou o séptuplo Espírito. de Deus. 6 Diante do trono havia um mar de vidro, como de cristal.

No centro, ao redor do trono, havia quatro criaturas viventes cobertas de olhos, tanto na frente como atrás. 7 A primeira criatura vivente era semelhante a um leão; a segunda, a um bezerro; a terceira criatura vivente tinha o rosto como de um homem; a quarta era semelhante a uma águia em voo. 8 Cada uma delas tinha seis asas e era cheia de olhos, tanto ao redor como por baixo das asas. Dia e noite dizem sem cessar:

"Santo, santo, santo

é o Senhor, o Deus Todo-poderoso,*4.8 Is 6.3.

que era, que é e que há de vir".

9 Toda vez que as criaturas viventes dão glória, honra e graças àquele que está assentado no trono e que vive pelos séculos dos séculos, 10 os vinte e quatro anciãos se prostram diante daquele que está assentado no trono e adoram ao que vive pelos séculos dos séculos. Eles lançam as suas coroas diante do trono e dizem:

11 "Digno és tu, Senhor e Deus nosso,

de receber a glória, a honra e o poder,

porque criaste todas as coisas,

e por tua vontade elas existem

e foram criadas".

The Throne in Heaven

1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits*4:5 That is, the sevenfold Spirit of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

" ‘Holy, holy, holy

is the Lord God Almighty,’*4:8 Isaiah 6:3

who was, and is, and is to come."

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things,

and by your will they were created

and have their being."
