1 Todo aquele que crê que Jesus é o Cristo é nascido de Deus, e todo aquele que ama o Pai ama também ao que dele foi gerado.2 Assim sabemos que amamos os filhos de Deus: amando a Deus e obedecendo aos seus mandamentos.3 Porque nisto consiste o amor a Deus: obedecer aos seus mandamentos. E os seus mandamentos não são pesados.4 O que é nascido de Deus vence o mundo; e esta é a vitória que vence o mundo: a nossa fé.5 Quem é que vence o mundo? Somente aquele que crê que Jesus é o Filho de Deus.6 Este é aquele que veio por meio de água e sangue, Jesus Cristo: não somente por água, mas por água e sangue. E o Espírito é quem dá testemunho, porque o Espírito é a verdade.7 Há três que dão testemunho:8 o Espírito, a água e o sangue; e os três são unânimes.9 Nós aceitamos o testemunho dos homens, mas o testemunho de Deus tem maior valor, pois é o testemunho de Deus, que ele dá acerca de seu Filho.10 Quem crê no Filho de Deus tem em si mesmo esse testemunho. Quem não crê em Deus o faz mentiroso, porque não crê no testemunho que Deus dá acerca de seu Filho.11 E este é o testemunho: Deus nos deu a vida eterna, e essa vida está em seu Filho.12 Quem tem o Filho, tem a vida; quem não tem o Filho de Deus, não tem a vida.13 Escrevi-lhes estas coisas, a vocês que crêem no nome do Filho de Deus, para que vocês saibam que têm a vida eterna.14 Esta é a confiança que temos ao nos aproximarmos de Deus: se pedirmos alguma coisa de acordo com a sua vontade, ele nos ouve.15 E se sabemos que ele nos ouve em tudo o que pedimos, sabemos que temos o que dele pedimos.16 Se alguém vir seu irmão cometer pecado que não leva à morte, ore, e Deus lhe dará vida. Refiro-me àqueles cujo pecado não leva à morte. Há pecado que leva à morte; não estou dizendo que se deva orar por este.17 Toda injustiça é pecado, mas há pecado que não leva à morte.18 Sabemos que todo aquele que é nascido de Deus não está no pecado; aquele que nasceu de Deus o protege, e o Maligno não o atinge.19 Sabemos que somos de Deus e que o mundo todo está sob o poder do Maligno.20 Sabemos também que o Filho de Deus veio e nos deu entendimento, para que conheçamos aquele que é o Verdadeiro. E nós estamos naquele que é o Verdadeiro, em seu Filho Jesus Cristo. Este é o verdadeiro Deus e a vida eterna.21 Filhinhos, guardem-se dos ídolos.

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves him that causes the birth also loves him that is born.2 This is how we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.3 For this is the love of God, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.4 Everything born from God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world, even our faith.5 Who is the one who conquers overcomesprevails over the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ. He did not come with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. The Spirit gives witness because it is the truth.7 There are three that testify: Latin Vulgate: tres testimonium: three that testify.8 The Spirit, the water, and the blood, and the three are in agreement accordconcurrenceharmony. Latin Vulgate: Spiritus et aqua et sanguis et tres unum: Spirit, water, and blood are united.9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. The witness of God is this, that he gave witness concerning his Son.10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in him. He who does not believe God made him a liar because he does not believe the testimony God gives concerning his Son.11 The testimony is this that God gave us everlasting life and this life is in his Son.12 He who has the Son has the life. He who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.13 I wrote these things so you who believe in the name of the Son of God may know you have everlasting life.14 This is the confidence that we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.15 If we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions requests that we have asked of him.16 If any man see his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he will ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not leading to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I do not say that he should make request concerning this.17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not leading to death.18 We know that no one who is born of God practices sin. He who was born from God watches over himself, and the evil one does not touch him.19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of theunder control of the evil one.20 We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding. We know him that is true for we are in him who is true, and in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and everlasting life.21 My little children guard protect yourselves from idols.
