1 Paulo, Silvano e Timóteo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses, em Deus Pai e no Senhor Jesus Cristo: A vocês, graça e paz da parte de Deus e de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.2 Sempre damos graças a Deus por todos vocês, mencionando-os em nossas orações.3 Lembramos continuamente, diante de nosso Deus e Pai, o que vocês têm demonstrado: o trabalho que resulta da fé, o esforço motivado pelo amor e a perseverança proveniente da esperança em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.4 Sabemos, irmãos, amados de Deus, que ele os escolheu5 porque o nosso evangelho não chegou a vocês somente em palavra, mas também em poder, no Espírito Santo e em plena convicção. Vocês sabem como procedemos entre vocês, em seu favor.6 De fato, vocês se tornaram nossos imitadores e do Senhor; apesar de muito sofrimento, receberam a palavra com alegria que vem do Espírito Santo.7 E, assim, tornaram-se modelo para todos os crentes que estão na Macedônia e na Acaia.8 Porque, partindo de vocês, propagou-se a mensagem do Senhor na Macedônia e na Acaia. Não somente isso, mas também por toda parte tornou-se conhecida a fé que vocês têm em Deus. O resultado é que não temos necessidade de dizer mais nada sobre isso,9 pois eles mesmos relatam de que maneira vocês nos receberam, como se voltaram para Deus, deixando os ídolos a fim de servir ao Deus vivo e verdadeiro,10 e esperar dos céus a seu Filho, a quem ressuscitou dos mortos: Jesus, que nos livra da ira que há de vir.

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the congregation of the Thessalonians united with God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.3 We continually remember your work of faith, labor of love, and patience, and your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.4 We know your calling brothers, beloved of God.5 We preached the good news to you, not in words only but with power from Holy Spirit and with conviction of its truth. You know how we lived when we were with you. It was for your own good.6 You imitated the Lord and us, even though you suffered much affliction. Yet you received the word with the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit.7 So you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.8 For not only did the message about God go out from you throughout Macedonia and Achaia, but the news about your faith in God has gone everywhere. There is nothing that we need to say.9 All those people speak about how you received us when we visited you, and how you turned away from idols to God, to serve the true and living God,10 and to wait for his Son to come from heaven, his Son Jesus, whom he raised from death and who rescues us from God’s anger indignation that is to come.
