1 Todo o que ama a disciplina ama o conhecimento, mas aquele que odeia a repreensão é tolo.2 O homem bom obtém o favor do Senhor, mas o homem que planeja maldades o Senhor condena.3 Ninguém consegue se firmar mediante a impiedade, e não se pode desarraigar o justo.4 A mulher exemplar é a coroa do seu marido, mas a de comportamento vergonhoso é como câncer em seus ossos.5 Os planos dos justos são retos, mas o conselho dos ímpios é enganoso.6 As palavras dos ímpios são emboscadas mortais, mas quando os justos falam há livramento.7 Os ímpios são derrubados e desaparecem, mas a casa dos justos permanece firme.8 O homem é louvado segundo a sua sabedoria, mas o que tem o coração perverso é desprezado.9 Melhor é não ser ninguém e, ainda assim, ter quem o sirva, do que fingir ser alguém e não ter comida.10 O justo cuida bem dos seus rebanhos, mas até os atos mais bondosos dos ímpios são cruéis.11 Quem trabalha a sua terra terá fartura de alimento, mas quem vai atrás de fantasias não tem juízo.12 Os ímpios cobiçam o despojo tomado pelos maus, mas a raiz do justo floresce.13 O mau se enreda no pecado do falar, mas o justo não cai nessas dificuldades.14 Do fruto de sua boca o homem se beneficia, e o trabalho de suas mãos será recompensado.15 O caminho do insensato parece-lhe justo, mas o sábio ouve os conselhos.16 O insensato revela de imediato o seu aborrecimento, mas o homem prudente ignora o insulto.17 A testemunha fiel dá testemunho honesto, mas a testemunha falsa conta mentiras.18 Há palavras que ferem como espada, mas a língua dos sábios traz a cura.19 Os lábios que dizem a verdade permanecem para sempre, mas a língua mentirosa dura apenas um instante.20 O engano está no coração dos que maquinam o mal, mas a alegria está entre os que promovem a paz.21 Nenhum mal atingirá o justo, mas os ímpios estão cobertos de problemas.22 O Senhor odeia os lábios mentirosos, mas se deleita com os que falam a verdade.23 O homem prudente não alardeia o seu conhecimento, mas o coração dos tolos derrama insensatez.24 As mãos diligentes governarão, mas os preguiçosos acabarão escravos.25 O coração ansioso deprime o homem, mas uma palavra bondosa o anima.26 O homem honesto é cauteloso em suas amizades, mas o caminho dos ímpios os leva a perder-se.27 O preguiçoso não aproveita a sua caça, mas o diligente dá valor a seus bens.28 No caminho da justiça está a vida; essa é a vereda que preserva da morte.

1 Whoever loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.2 A good man obtaineth favor from the LORD: but a man of wicked devices he will condemn.3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoreth himself, and is destitute of bread.10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered to him.15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth to counsel is wise.16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.17 He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness, deceit.18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy.21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.25 Heaviness in the heart of man depresseth it: but a good word maketh it glad.26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the path of it there is no death.
