1 Portanto, já que vocês ressuscitaram com Cristo, procurem as coisas que são do alto, onde Cristo está assentado à direita de Deus.2 Mantenham o pensamento nas coisas do alto, e não nas coisas terrenas.3 Pois vocês morreram, e agora a sua vida está escondida com Cristo em Deus.4 Quando Cristo, que é a sua vida, for manifestado, então vocês também serão manifestados com ele em glória.5 Assim, façam morrer tudo o que pertence à natureza terrena de vocês: imoralidade sexual, impureza, paixão, desejos maus e a ganância, que é idolatria.6 É por causa dessas coisas que vem a ira de Deus sobre os que vivem na desobediência,7 as quais vocês praticaram no passado, quando costumavam viver nelas.8 Mas agora, abandonem todas estas coisas: ira, indignação, maldade, maledicência e linguagem indecente no falar.9 Não mintam uns aos outros, visto que vocês já se despiram do velho homem com suas práticas10 e se revestiram do novo, o qual está sendo renovado em conhecimento, à imagem do seu Criador.11 Nessa nova vida já não há diferença entre grego e judeu, circunciso e incircunciso, bárbaro e cita, escravo e livre, mas Cristo é tudo e está em todos.12 Portanto, como povo escolhido de Deus, santo e amado, revistam-se de profunda compaixão, bondade, humildade, mansidão e paciência.13 Suportem-se uns aos outros e perdoem as queixas que tiverem uns contra os outros. Perdoem como o Senhor lhes perdoou.14 Acima de tudo, porém, revistam-se do amor, que é o elo perfeito.15 Que a paz de Cristo seja o juiz em seus corações, visto que vocês foram chamados a viver em paz, como membros de um só corpo. E sejam agradecidos.16 Habite ricamente em vocês a palavra de Cristo; ensinem e aconselhem-se uns aos outros com toda a sabedoria, e cantem salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais com gratidão a Deus em seus corações.17 Tudo o que fizerem, seja em palavra ou em ação, façam-no em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando por meio dele graças a Deus Pai.18 Mulheres, sujeitem-se a seus maridos, como convém a quem está no Senhor.19 Maridos, amem suas mulheres e não as tratem com amargura.20 Filhos, obedeçam a seus pais em tudo, pois isso agrada ao Senhor.21 Pais, não irritem seus filhos, para que eles não se desanimem.22 Escravos, obedeçam em tudo a seus senhores terrenos, não somente para agradar os homens quando eles estão observando, mas com sinceridade de coração, pelo fato de vocês temerem ao Senhor.23 Tudo o que fizerem, façam de todo o coração, como para o Senhor, e não para os homens,24 sabendo que receberão do Senhor a recompensa da herança. É a Cristo, o Senhor, que vocês estão servindo.25 Quem cometer injustiça receberá de volta injustiça, e não haverá exceção para ninguém.

1 If however you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, enthroned at God's right hand.2 Give your minds to the things that are above, not to the things that are on the earth.3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.4 When Christ appears –He is our true Life– then you also will appear with Him in glory.5 Therefore put to death your earthward inclinations–fornication, impurity, sensual passion, unholy desire, and all greed, for that is a form of idolatry.6 It is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming,7 and you also were once addicted to them, while you were living under their power.8 But now you must rid yourselves of every kind of sin –angry and passionate outbreaks, ill-will, evil speaking, foul-mouthed abuse– so that these may never soil your lips.9 Do not speak falsehoods to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its doings,10 and have clothed yourselves with the new self which is being remoulded into full knowledge so as to become like Him who created it.11 In that new creation there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free man, but Christ is everything and is in all of us.12 Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own people holy and dearly loved, with tender-heartedness, kindness, lowliness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;13 bearing with one another and readily forgiving each other, if any one has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, you also must forgive.14 And over all these put on love, which is the perfect bond of union;15 and let the peace which Christ gives settle all questionings in your hearts, to which peace indeed you were called as belonging to His one Body; and be thankful.16 Let the teaching concerning Christ remain as a rich treasure in your hearts. In all wisdom teach and admonish one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and sing with grace in your hearts to God.17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, and let it be through Him that you give thanks to God the Father.18 Married women, be submissive to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.19 Married men, be affectionate to your wives, and do not treat them harshly.20 Children be obedient to your parents in everything; for that is right for Christians.21 Fathers, do not fret and harass your children, or you may make them sullen and morose.22 Slaves, be obedient in everything to your earthly masters; not in acts of eye service, as aiming only to please men, but with simplicity of purpose, because you fear the Lord.23 Whatever you are doing, let your hearts be in your work, as a thing done for the Lord and not for men.24 For you know that it is from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. Christ is the Master whose bondservants you are.25 The man who perpetrates a wrong will find the wrong repaid to him; and with God there are no merely earthly distinctions.
