1 E agora, uma palavra aos presbíteros em seu meio. Eu, que também sou presbítero, testemunhei os sofrimentos de Cristo e também participarei de sua glória quando ela for revelada. Assim, peço-lhes 2 que cuidem do rebanho que Deus lhes confiou com disposição, e não de má vontade; não pelo que lucrarão com isso, mas pelo desejo de servir a Deus. 3 Não abusem de sua autoridade com aqueles que foram colocados sob seus cuidados, mas guiem-nos com seu bom exemplo. 4 E, quando vier o Grande Pastor, vocês receberão uma coroa de glória sem fim.

5 Da mesma forma, vocês, que são mais jovens, aceitem a autoridade dos presbíteros. E todos vocês vistam-se de humildade no relacionamento uns com os outros. Pois,

"Deus se opõe aos orgulhosos,

mas concede graça aos humildes".

6 Portanto, humilhem-se sob o grande poder de Deus e, no tempo certo, ele os exaltará. 7 Entreguem-lhe todas as suas ansiedades, pois ele cuida de vocês.

8 Estejam atentos! Tomem cuidado com seu grande inimigo, o diabo, que anda como um leão rugindo à sua volta, à procura de alguém para devorar. 9 Permaneçam firmes contra ele e sejam fortes na fé. Lembrem-se de que seus irmãos em Cristo em todo o mundo estão passando pelos mesmos sofrimentos.

10 Deus, em toda a sua graça, os chamou para participarem de sua glória eterna por meio de Cristo Jesus. Assim, depois que tiverem sofrido por um pouco de tempo, ele os restaurará, os sustentará e os fortalecerá, e os colocará sobre um firme alicerce. 11 A ele seja o poder para sempre! Amém.

12 Escrevi e enviei esta breve carta com a ajuda de Silas, a quem lhes recomendo como irmão fiel. Meu objetivo ao escrever é encorajá-los e garantir-lhes que as experiências pelas quais vocês têm passado são, verdadeiramente, parte da graça de Deus. Permaneçam firmes nessa graça.

13 Aquela que está na Babilônia, escolhida assim como vocês, lhes envia saudações, e também meu filho Marcos. 14 Cumprimentem uns aos outros com um beijo de amor.

1 Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily; not for dishonest gain, but willingly; 3 not as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock. 4 When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.

5 Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

8 Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

12 Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand. 13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you. So does Mark, my son. 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.
