1 Os sacerdotes e levitas que regressaram com Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, e com Jesua, o sumo sacerdote, foram:

Seraías, Jeremias, Esdras,

2 Amarias, Maluque, Hatus,

3 Secanias, Harim, Meremote,

4 Ido, Ginetom, Abias,

5 Miniamim, Moadias, Bilga,

6 Semaías, Joiaribe, Jedaías,

7 Salu, Amoque, Hilquias e Jedaías.

Esses foram os líderes dos sacerdotes e seus companheiros nos dias de Jesua.

8 Os levitas que regressaram com eles foram: Jesua, Binui, Cadmiel, Serebias, Judá e também Matanias, que, com seus companheiros, era encarregado dos cânticos de ação de graças. 9 Seus companheiros Baquebuquias e Uni ficavam em frente deles durante o culto.

10 O sumo sacerdote Jesua gerou Joiaquim;

Joiaquim gerou Eliasibe;

Eliasibe gerou Joiada;

11 Joiada gerou Joanã;

Joanã gerou Jadua.

12 Quando Joiaquim era sumo sacerdote, os chefes das famílias dos sacerdotes foram:

Meraías, chefe da família de Seraías;

Hananias, chefe da família de Jeremias;

13 Mesulão, chefe da família de Esdras;

Joanã, chefe da família de Amarias;

14 Jônatas, chefe da família de Maluqui;

José, chefe da família de Secanias;

15 Adna, chefe da família de Harim;

Helcai, chefe da família de Meremote;

16 Zacarias, chefe da família de Ido;

Mesulão, chefe da família de Ginetom;

17 Zicri, chefe da família de Abias;

um chefe da família de Miniamin;

Piltai, chefe da família de Moadias;

18 Samua, chefe da família de Bilga;

Jônatas, chefe da família de Semaías;

19 Matenai, chefe da família de Joiaribe;

Uzi, chefe da família de Jedaías;

20 Calai, chefe da família de Salu;

Héber, chefe da família de Amoque;

21 Hasabias, chefe da família de Hilquias;

Netanel, chefe da família de Jedaías.

22 Nos dias de Eliasibe, Joiada, Joanã e Jadua, manteve-se um registro dos chefes das famílias dos levitas. Durante o reinado de Dario, o persa, manteve-se um registro dos sacerdotes. 23 Até os dias de Joanã, neto de Eliasibe, manteve-se um registro dos chefes das famílias dos levitas no Livro da História.

24 Estes foram os chefes das famílias dos levitas: Hasabias, Serebias, Jesua, Binui, Cadmiel e outros companheiros que ficavam em frente deles durante as cerimônias de louvor e ação de graças; um lado respondia ao outro, conforme ordenado por Davi, homem de Deus.

25 Matanias, Baquebuquias, Obadias, Mesulão, Talmom e Acube eram os guardas das portas encarregados dos depósitos junto às portas. 26 Todos eles serviam nos dias de Joiaquim, filho de Jesua, filho de Jeozadaque, e nos dias do governador Neemias e do sacerdote e escriba Esdras.

27 Para a dedicação do novo muro de Jerusalém, pediu-se que os levitas de toda a terra viessem a Jerusalém para auxiliar nas cerimônias. Deviam participar dessa ocasião alegre com cânticos de ação de graças e com música de címbalos, harpas e liras. 28 Os cantores foram reunidos da região ao redor de Jerusalém e dos povoados dos netofatitas. 29 Também vieram de Bete-Gilgal e das regiões rurais próximas de Geba e de Azmavete, pois os cantores haviam construído seus próprios povoados ao redor de Jerusalém. 30 Primeiro, os sacerdotes e os levitas purificaram a si mesmos; depois, purificaram o povo, as portas e o muro.

31 Eu conduzi os líderes de Judá até o alto do muro e organizei dois grandes coros. Um dos coros foi para o sul pelo alto do muro, até a porta do Esterco. 32 Hosaías e metade dos líderes de Judá seguiram o coro, 33 junto com Azarias, Esdras, Mesulão, 34 Judá, Benjamim, Semaías e Jeremias. 35 Depois deles vinham alguns sacerdotes que tocavam trombetas: Zacarias, filho de Jônatas, filho de Semaías, filho de Matanias, filho de Micaías, filho de Zacur, descendente de Asafe. 36 Os companheiros de Zacarias eram Semaías, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Natanel, Judá e Hanani. Eles tocavam os instrumentos musicais prescritos por Davi, homem de Deus. O escriba Esdras ia à frente deles. 37 Quando chegaram à porta da Fonte, foram em frente e subiram pelos degraus que levavam até a Cidade de Davi. Passaram pela casa de Davi e, de lá, foram até a porta das Águas, a leste.

38 O segundo coro foi para o norte, no sentido oposto, para encontrar-se com o primeiro coro. Fui com eles e com a outra metade do povo pelo alto do muro, passando pela torre dos Fornos, até o muro Largo, 39 e depois desde a porta de Efraim até a porta Antiga, passando pela porta do Peixe e pela torre de Hananel e prosseguindo até a torre dos Cem. Dali, continuamos para a porta das Ovelhas e paramos junto à porta da Guarda.

40 Os dois corais seguiram, então, para o templo de Deus, onde tomaram seus lugares. Eu fiz o mesmo, junto com os líderes que estavam comigo. 41 Acompanhamos os sacerdotes que tocavam trombetas: Eliaquim, Maaseias, Miniamim, Micaías, Elioenai, Zacarias e Hananias, 42 e os cantores: Maaseias, Semaías, Eleazar, Uzi, Joanã, Malquias, Elão e Ézer. Eles tocavam e cantavam bem alto, sob a direção de Jezraías.

43 Naquele dia alegre, foram oferecidos muitos sacrifícios, pois Deus tinha dado ao povo motivo para se alegrar. As mulheres e as crianças também participaram da celebração, e podia-se ouvir de longe a alegria do povo de Jerusalém.

44 Naquele dia, foram nomeados os homens encarregados dos depósitos para as ofertas e os primeiros frutos da colheita e para os dízimos. Eram responsáveis por recolher dos campos fora das cidades as porções exigidas pela lei para os sacerdotes e os levitas, pois todo o povo estava alegre com os sacerdotes e os levitas e com seu trabalho. 45 Tanto eles como os cantores e os guardas das portas realizavam o serviço de seu Deus e o serviço de purificação, conforme Davi e seu filho Salomão haviam ordenado. 46 O costume de ter regentes do coro para dirigir os hinos de louvor e de ação de graças a Deus havia começado muito tempo antes, nos dias de Davi e Asafe. 47 Por isso, agora, nos dias de Zorobabel e de Neemias, todo o Israel trazia uma provisão diária de alimentos para os cantores, os guardas das portas e os levitas. Os levitas, por sua vez, entregavam uma porção daquilo que recebiam aos sacerdotes, os descendentes de Arão.

1 Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, 2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush, 3 Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth, 4 Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah, 5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah, 6 Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah, 7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers in the days of Jeshua.

8 Moreover the Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who was over the thanksgiving songs, he and his brothers. 9 Also Bakbukiah and Unno, their brothers, were close to them according to their offices. 10 Jeshua became the father of Joiakim, and Joiakim became the father of Eliashib, and Eliashib became the father of Joiada, 11 and Joiada became the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan became the father of Jaddua.

12 In the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers’ households: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah; 13 of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan; 14 of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph; 15 of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai; 16 of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam; 17 of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai; 18 of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan; 19 of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi; 20 of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber; 21 of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.

22 As for the Levites, in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, there were recorded the heads of fathers’ households; also the priests, in the reign of Darius the Persian. 23 The sons of Levi, heads of fathers’ households, were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib. 24 The chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers close to them, to praise and give thanks according to the commandment of David the man of God, section next to section. 25 Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers keeping the watch at the storehouses of the gates. 26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest and scribe.

27 At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to keep the dedication with gladness, both with giving thanks and with singing, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and with harps. 28 The sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain around Jerusalem and from the villages of the Netophathites; 29 also from Beth Gilgal and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built themselves villages around Jerusalem. 30 The priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

31 Then I brought the princes of Judah up on the wall, and appointed two great companies who gave thanks and went in procession. One went on the right hand on the wall toward the dung gate; 32 and after them went Hoshaiah, with half of the princes of Judah, 33 and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam, 34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah, 35 and some of the priests’ sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph; 36 and his brothers, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was before them. 37 By the spring gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of David’s city, at the ascent of the wall, above David’s house, even to the water gate eastward.

38 The other company of those who gave thanks went to meet them, and I after them, with the half of the people on the wall above the tower of the furnaces, even to the wide wall, 39 and above the gate of Ephraim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hammeah, even to the sheep gate; and they stood still in the gate of the guard. 40 So the two companies of those who gave thanks in God’s house stood, and I and the half of the rulers with me; 41 and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets; 42 and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. The singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer. 43 They offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even far away.

44 On that day, men were appointed over the rooms for the treasures, for the wave offerings, for the first fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them according to the fields of the cities the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites who served. 45 They performed the duty of their God and the duty of the purification, and so did the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the commandment of David and of Solomon his son. 46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. 47 All Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave the portions of the singers and the gatekeepers, as every day required; and they set apart that which was for the Levites; and the Levites set apart that which was for the sons of Aaron.
