1 Os filhos de Israel foram: Rúben, Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar, Zebulão, 2 Dan, José, Benjamim, Naftali, Gad e Aser.

3 Judá teve três filhos da filha de Suá, a cananeia:

Er, Onã e Sela. Mas Er, o mais velho, fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, pelo que lhe tirou a vida.

4 Então a viúva de Er, Tamar, e o seu sogro Judá foram pais de dois gémeos: Perez e Zera. Portanto, os filhos de Judá acabaram por ser cinco.

5 Os filhos de Perez foram:

Hezrom e Hamul.

6 Os filhos de Zera foram:

Zimri, Etã, Hemã, Calcol e Dara.

7 Acã, filho de Carmi, foi o homem que roubou a Deus, trazendo grande perturbação ao povo de Israel. 8 Etã teve um filho: Azarias.

9 Os filhos de Hezrom foram:

Jerameel, Rão e Quelubai.

10 Rão foi pai de Aminadabe e este foi pai de Nassom, líder de Israel.

11 Nassom gerou Salmom, o qual foi pai de Boaz.

12 Este foi pai de Obede e Obede de Jessé.

13 Jessé teve como primogénito Eliabe e depois Abinadabe, Simeia, 14 Netanel, Radai, 15 Ozem e David.

16 Teve também duas irmãs que se chamavam Zeruía e Abigail.

Zeruía teve os seguintes filhos: Abisai, Joabe e Asael.

17 Abigail, que casou com Jéter, originário da terra de Ismael, teve um filho chamado Amasa.

18 Calebe, filho de Hezrom, teve duas mulheres: Azuba e Jeriote. Os filhos de Azuba foram:

Jeser, Sobabe, Ardom.

19 Após a morte de Azuba, Calebe casou-se com Efrata, que lhe deu um filho: Hur.

20 Hur teve um filho a quem chamou Uri e o filho deste último foi Bezalel.

21 Hezrom casou-se com a filha de Maquir, tendo ele a idade de 60 anos, e ela deu-lhe um filho que tinha o nome de Segube. Maquir foi também o pai de Gileade.

22 Segube foi pai de Jair, que governou sobre vinte e três povoações na terra de Gileade.

23 Gesur e Aram tomaram-lhe essas localidades e ainda Quenate, mais as sessenta povoações ao redor.

24 Depois que Hezrom morreu em Calebe-Efrata, Abias, mulher de Hezrom, deu-lhe Acheúr, fundador de Tecoa.

25 São estes os filhos de Jerameel, o filho mais velho de Hezrom:

Rão, o primogénito, Buna, Orem, Ozem, Aías. 26 Atara, a segunda mulher de Jerameel, foi mãe de Onã.

27 Os filhos de Rão foram: Maaz, Jamim e Equer.

28 Os filhos de Onã: Samai e Jada.

Samai teve: Nadabe e Abisur. 29 Os filhos de Abisur e de sua mulher Abiail foram:

Abã e Molide.

30 Os filhos de Nadabe foram:

Selede e Apaim. Selede faleceu sem ter filhos.

31 Apaim teve um filho chamado Isi;

Sesã foi filho de Isi; e Alai foi filho de Sesã.

32 Jada, irmão de Samai, teve dois filhos:

Jeter e Jónatas. Jeter faleceu sem filhos.

33 Jónatas teve dois filhos chamados Pelete e Zaza.

34-36 Sesã não teve filhos, ainda que tivesse tido várias filhas. Uma delas tornou-se mulher de Jará, o seu servo egípcio. Tiveram um filho a quem chamaram Atai.

O filho deste último chamou-se Natã, o qual gerou Zabade.

37 Este gerou Eflal, que por sua vez foi pai de Obede.

38 O filho de Obede chamou-se Jeú e Jeú foi pai de Azarias.

39 Azarias gerou Helez; o filho de Helez chamou-se Elasá.

40 Elasá foi pai de Sismai; Sismai foi pai de Salum.

41 Salum foi pai de Jecamias e Jecamias de Elisama.

42 O filho mais velho de Calebe, irmão de Jerameel, foi Messa; este foi pai de Zife, o qual gerou Maressa, o pai de Hebrom.

43 Foram os seguintes os descendentes de Hebrom:

Coré, Tapua, Requem e Sema.

44 Sema foi pai de Raão e avô de Jorqueão.

Requem foi pai de Samai.

45 Samai teve um filho chamado Maom, o qual foi pai de Bete-Zur.

46 Efá, a concubina de Calebe, gerou-lhe Harã, Moza e Gazez;

Harã teve um filho chamado Gazez.

47 Os descendentes de Jadai foram:

Regem, Jotão, Gesã, Pelete, Efá e Saafe.

48 Outra das concubinas de Calebe, Maacá, gerou-lhe Seber, Tiraná, 49 Saafe, que foi pai de Madmana, e Seva, pai de Macbena e de Gibeá.

Calebe teve também uma filha que se chamou Acsa.

50 Os filhos de Hur, que foi o filho mais velho de Calebe e Efrata, foram:

Sobal, que foi pai de Quiriate-Jearim; 51 Salma, pai de Belém, e Harefe, pai de Bete-Gader.

52 Os filhos de Sobal incluíram Quiriate-Jearim e Haroé, o antepassado de metade da tribo de Manaate. 53 As famílias de Quiriate-Jearim foram os itreus, os puteus, os sumateus e os misraeus, de quem descendem os zorateus e os estaoleus.

54 Os descendentes de Salma foram o seu filho Belém, os netofatitas, Atarote-Bete-Joabe, metade dos manaatitas e os zoritas. 55 Incluíam igualmente as famílias dos escribas que viviam em Jabez, os tiratitas, os simeatitas e os sucatitas; todos estes são queneus que descenderam de Hamate, o pai da família de Recabe.

18 And Caleb the son of Hezron begat children of Azubah his wife, and of Jerioth: her sons are these; Jesher, and Shobab, and Ardon. 19 And when Azubah was dead, Caleb took unto him Ephrath, which bare him Hur. 20 And Hur begat Uri, and Uri begat Bezaleel.

21 And afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was threescore years old; and she bare him Segub.*2.21 married: Heb. took 22 And Segub begat Jair, who had three and twenty cities in the land of Gilead. 23 And he took Geshur, and Aram, with the towns of Jair, from them, with Kenath, and the towns thereof, even threescore cities. All these belonged to the sons of Machir the father of Gilead. 24 And after that Hezron was dead in Caleb-ephratah, then Abiah Hezron’s wife bare him Ashur the father of Tekoa.

25 And the sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron were, Ram the firstborn, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem, and Ahijah. 26 Jerahmeel had also another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam. 27 And the sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel were, Maaz, and Jamin, and Eker. 28 And the sons of Onam were, Shammai, and Jada. And the sons of Shammai; Nadab, and Abishur. 29 And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail, and she bare him Ahban, and Molid. 30 And the sons of Nadab; Seled, and Appaim: but Seled died without children. 31 And the sons of Appaim; Ishi. And the sons of Ishi; Sheshan. And the children of Sheshan; Ahlai. 32 And the sons of Jada the brother of Shammai; Jether, and Jonathan: and Jether died without children. 33 And the sons of Jonathan; Peleth, and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.

34 Now Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. And Sheshan had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarha. 35 And Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant to wife; and she bare him Attai. 36 And Attai begat Nathan, and Nathan begat Zabad, 37 And Zabad begat Ephlal, and Ephlal begat Obed, 38 And Obed begat Jehu, and Jehu begat Azariah, 39 And Azariah begat Helez, and Helez begat Eleasah, 40 And Eleasah begat Sisamai, and Sisamai begat Shallum, 41 And Shallum begat Jekamiah, and Jekamiah begat Elishama.

42 Now the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were, Mesha his firstborn, which was the father of Ziph; and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron. 43 And the sons of Hebron; Korah, and Tappuah, and Rekem, and Shema. 44 And Shema begat Raham, the father of Jorkoam: and Rekem begat Shammai. 45 And the son of Shammai was Maon: and Maon was the father of Beth-zur. 46 And Ephah, Caleb’s concubine, bare Haran, and Moza, and Gazez: and Haran begat Gazez. 47 And the sons of Jahdai; Regem, and Jotham, and Geshan, and Pelet, and Ephah, and Shaaph. 48 Maachah, Caleb’s concubine, bare Sheber, and Tirhanah. 49 She bare also Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah, and the father of Gibea: and the daughter of Caleb was Achsah.

50 These were the sons of Caleb the son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah; Shobal the father of Kirjath-jearim,*2.50 Ephratah: also called, Ephreth 51 Salma the father of Beth-lehem, Hareph the father of Beth-gader. 52 And Shobal the father of Kirjath-jearim had sons; Haroeh, and half of the Manahethites.*2.52 Haroeh: or, Reaiah*2.52 half…: or, half of the Menuchites, or, Hatsi-ham-menuchoth 53 And the families of Kirjath-jearim; the Ithrites, and the Puhites, and the Shumathites, and the Mishraites; of them came the Zareathites, and the Eshtaulites. 54 The sons of Salma; Beth-lehem, and the Netophathites, Ataroth, the house of Joab, and half of the Manahethites, the Zorites.*2.54 Ataroth…: or, Atarites, or, crowns of the house of Joab 55 And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
