2 "Que boa maneira de ajudar quem está fragilizado!

Não trouxeste nenhum encorajamento ao meu abatimento!

3 Em nada esclareceste a minha ignorância!

Disseste até coisas sem sabedoria nenhuma!

4 Quem é que te inspirou tamanha sabedoria?

Em nome de quem estiveste a falar?

5 A alma dos mortos treme debaixo das águas com seus habitantes.

6 O mundo dos mortos abre-se diante de Deus,

a terra da destruição aparece a descoberto.

7 Ele estende os céus do norte sobre os espaços infinitos

e suspende a Terra sobre o nada.

8 Acumula a chuva nas espessas nuvens,

sem que estas se ressintam de tal peso.

9 Envolve nelas o seu trono.

10 Estabelece limites aos oceanos,

sim, uma barreira constante, tanto de dia como de noite.

11 As estruturas do firmamento tremem

perante uma ameaça sua.

12 Pela sua força fez sossegar o monstro marinho*26.12 Nos relatos babilónicos da criação do mundo, o monstro marinho (Raab) personificava o oceano ou o caos, vencido pelo deus criador.;

é pela sua inteligência que os oceanos abatem o orgulho que os agita!

13 A beleza dos céus foi-lhe dada pelo seu sopro;

foi também a sua mão que formou a serpente veloz.

14 E estas são apenas algumas das coisas que ele fez,

apenas um vislumbre do seu poder.

Quem poderá enfrentar o seu tremendo poder?"
