1 O meu coração treme com estas coisas.

2 Escuta, escuta o trovão da sua voz,

que ecoa através dos céus!

3 Os seus relâmpagos dardejam em todas as direções.

4 Depois vem o rugir dos trovões;

ali ecoa a voz tremenda da sua majestade;

quando a sua voz ressoa, ninguém se aguenta em pé.

5 Em cada trovão, essa voz é cheia de glória;

não podemos compreender a grandeza do seu poder.

6 Porque ele diz à neve, aos aguaceiros e às tempestades

para caírem sobre a Terra.

7 Nessas ocasiões, o trabalho do homem cessa,

para que toda a gente possa reconhecer o seu poder.

8 Os animais selvagens escondem-se nas rochas e nas tocas.

9 O vento do sul traz a chuva;

o do norte, o frio.

10 Deus sopra sobre as torrentes

e até os rios mais vastos gelam.

11 Carrega as nuvens com humidade

e elas disparam relâmpagos.

12 Os raios são dirigidos pela sua mão

e fazem o que lhes manda, por toda a Terra.

13 Manda tempestades, ora como castigo para os homens,

ora para regar favoravelmente a sua terra.

14 Ouve, Job, detém-te um pouco!

Considera as maravilhas de Deus!

15 Sabes como Deus controla toda a natureza

e como faz relampejar através das nuvens?

16 Compreendes como é feito, o equilíbrio das nuvens,

por aquele que é perfeito em conhecimento?

17 Percebes o calor que te incomoda, quando sopra o vento do sul

e há calma sobre a terra?

18 Saberias tu estender o firmamento,

que é sólido como um espelho fundido?

19 Tu, que julgas saber tanto, ensina-nos a nós

como deveremos aproximar-nos de Deus.

Somos, talvez, demasiado ignorantes para saber essas coisas!

20 Poderá Deus ser notificado, de que eu vou falar?

Haverá algum homem que aceite,

de boa vontade, ser engolido vivo?

21 Não podemos olhar para o Sol, por causa da sua luminosidade,

quando os ventos limpam o firmamento de nuvens.

22 Do norte vêm resplendores de luz dourada;

Deus está rodeado de temível majestade.

23 Não podemos, sequer, imaginar o poder do Todo-Poderoso!

Mesmo assim, é tão justo e misericordioso que não nos destrói.

24 Não admira que toda a gente, em toda a parte, o tema!

Ele não se deixa impressionar pelo mais sábio dos homens."

14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. 15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? 16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? 17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? 18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? 19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. 20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.

21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. 22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.*37.22 Fair…: Heb.
