1 Socorre-nos, Senhor!

Porque os homens piedosos estão a desaparecer!

São poucos os que te são fiéis, entre os humanos.

2 Cada um procura enganar o seu próximo;

são lisonjeiros e falam sem sinceridade.

3 O Senhor castigará os que falam com adulação e altivamente;

4 os que dizem: "Continuarei a falar como me apetecer.

A boca é minha. Quem pode governar sobre nós?"

5 E o Senhor responde:

"Eu me levantarei para defender os pobres da opressão,

para fazer calar os gemidos dos infelizes.

Darei salvação aos que suspiram por ela."

6 A palavra do Senhor é pura;

é tão verdadeira como a prata refinada no forno sete vezes.

7 Tu guardarás para sempre os que são teus, Senhor,

fora do alcance e da influência desta geração maligna.

8 Gente perversa aparece por toda a parte;

as pessoas depravadas chegam a ser mais admiradas e louvadas.
