Salmo de David. Para o diretor do coro.

1 Felizes são aqueles que socorrem os pobres;

a esses o Senhor os livra.

2 Mantendo-lhes a vida,

o Senhor os favorece aqui na Terra

e os guarda de ficarem por conta dos seus inimigos.

3 É o Senhor mesmo quem cuida deles,

quando estão doentes,

e os alivia restabelecendo-os na sua cama.

4 Eu disse ao Senhor:

"Tem piedade de mim e cura a minha alma,

pois pequei contra ti."

5 Mas os meus adversários falam contra mim dizendo:

"Não há meio de morrer,

de forma a que mais ninguém se lembre dele!"

6 Quando vêm visitar-me, são muito delicados;

dizem banalidades, para serem amáveis.

Mas no seu coração vão amontoando maldade;

quando vão embora deixam-na sair da boca.

7 E vão falando, entre si,

sobre tudo o que imaginam de mal a meu respeito.

8 E dizem: "Aquilo é doença sem cura!

Já não poderá levantar-se daquela cama!"

9 Até o meu melhor amigo, em quem eu confiava,

e que comia do meu pão, até esse me trai*41.9 Literalmente: levantou contra mim o calcanhar. Este versículo é parcialmente citado em Mt 26.21; Mc 14.18; Jo 13.18, 21..

10 Mas tu, Senhor, tem compaixão de mim;

dá-me de novo a saúde, para que possa retribuir-lhes.

11 Será a prova de como tu me favoreces;

que não deixas que os meus inimigos triunfem.

12 Tu me tens dado forças, porque vês que sou sincero;

deixas que eu viva na tua presença, para sempre.

13 Louvado seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel,

através de todos os séculos e para sempre!

10 But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
