1 Portanto, visto que já ressuscitaram com Cristo, busquem as coisas que são de cima, onde Cristo está sentado à direita de Deus.2 Que as coisas celestiais encham o vosso pensamento, e não as que são terrenas.3 Porque vocês já morreram com Cristo; e agora a vossa vida está escondida com ele em Deus.4 E quando Cristo, que é a nossa vida, vier de novo ao mundo, então participaremos da sua glória.5 Portanto, mortifiquem os impulsos da vossa carne, tais como a imoralidade sexual, os pensamentos sujos, os apetites descontrolados, as paixões infames, e a avareza, que é uma forma de idolatria.76 A severa justiça de Deus cairá sobre todos os que praticam tais coisas.7 E vocês antes eram desses, vivendo nesse mundo de coisas vis8 Mas, agora, deixem tudo isso para trás - o ódio, a ira, a maldade, a crítica maldosa, o vocabulário indecente;9 e não mintam! Porque já deitaram fora a vida passada com tudo isso que lhe era próprio10 Agora estão revestidos duma nova vida que se vai renovando no conhecimento, segundo a imagem daquele que a criou.11 Nesta vida nova não conta o ser judeu ou ser grego; tão-pouco aí se faz discriminação entre os que são circuncidados e os que são pagãos; nem importa a posição económica e social. Mas, sim, que Cristo ocupe todo o lugar na vida de todos!12 Assim, como pessoas escolhidas por Deus, separadas para Deus que vos amou, revistam-se de profundo amor para com os outros, de compaixão, de um carácter bom, que sabe dar provas de paciência e tolerância; com a humildade de quem sabe, no fundo, o que vale, sejam pacientes uns para com os outros.13 Devem suportar as faltas uns dos outros e perdoar a quem vos ofende, tal como também Cristo em tudo vos perdoou.14 E sobretudo deixem que toda a vossa vida seja dirigida pelo amor, que é a força capaz de nos unir no caminho da perfeição.15 E que a paz de Cristo domine os vossos corações, pois foi para isso que foram chamados a viver, como membros de um só corpo. E que haja gratidão em vós.16 Que a palavra de Cristo habite permanentemente nas vossas vidas, enriquecendo os vossos espíritos de sabedoria, de forma a poderem comunicá-la uns aos outros, e a poderem aconselhar-se mutuamente, até mesmo através de salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais, cantando ao Senhor com alegria e com gratidão nos vossos corações.17 E tudo quanto fizerem ou disserem que seja na dependência do Senhor Jesus; é através dele que o vosso agradecimento é dado a Deus.18 As esposas sujeitem-se aos seus maridos, como convém a mulheres que pertencem ao Senhor.19 Os maridos, que amem as suas mulheres, e não as tratem com dureza20 Quanto aos filhos, devem ser obedientes aos pais, porque é assim que darão alegria ao Senhor.21 Pelo vosso lado, pais, não exasperem os filhos, o que pode levá-los ao desânimo.22 Vocês, trabalhadores, devem obedecer aos vossos patrões em tudo que fazem. Tentem agradar-lhes sempre, não apenas quando estão a ser observados. Obedeçam de boa vontade por causa do vosso temor reverente para com o Senhor23 Trabalhem bem e com agrado em tudo que fazem, como estivessem a trabalhar para o Senhor e não para as pessoas.24 Lembrem-se que o Senhor vos dará uma herança por recompensa, e o mestre que estão a servir é Cristo25 Mas se fizerem o que é mau, serão retribuídos pelo mal que fizerem. Porque Deus não faz diferenciação entre as pessoas.

1 If then you{+} were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.2 Set your{+} mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.3 For you{+} died, and your{+} life is hid with Christ in God.4 When Christ will be manifested, [who is] your{+} life, then you{+} will also be manifested with him in glory.5 Put to death therefore your{+} members which are on the earth: fornication, impurity, immoral sexual passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry;6 because of these things the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience:7 in which you{+} also once walked, when you{+} lived in these things;8 but now do you{+} also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, railing, shameful speaking out of your{+} mouth:9 do not lie one to another; seeing that you{+} have put off the old man with his activities,10 and have put on the new man, who is being renewed to knowledge after the image of him who created him:11 where there can't be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all things, and in all.12 Put on therefore, as God's elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, long-suffering;13 forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you{+}, so also [should] you{+}:14 and above all these things [put on] love, which is the bond of perfectness.15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your{+} hearts, to the which you{+} also were called in one body; and be{+} thankful.16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you{+} richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms [and] hymns [and] spiritual songs, singing with grace in your{+} hearts to God.17 And whatever you{+} do, in word or in deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.18 Wives, be in subjection to your{+} husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.19 Husbands, love your{+} wives, and do not be bitter against them.20 Children, obey your{+} parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in the Lord.21 Fathers, do not provoke your{+} children, that they not be discouraged.22 Slaves, obey in all things those who are your{+} masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord:23 whatever you{+} do, work heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men;24 knowing that from the Lord you{+} will receive the recompense of the inheritance: you{+} serve as slaves to the Lord Christ.25 For he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done: and there is no respect of persons.
