1 O zaman denizden çıkan on boynuzlu, yedi başlı bir canavar gördüm. On boynuzunun üzerinde birer taç ve yedi başının üzerinde Allahʼa hakaret eden birer ad vardı. 2 Gördüğüm canavar parsa*13:2 Pars Leopar. benziyordu. Fakat ayakları ayı ayakları, ağzı aslan ağzı gibiydi. Ejderha bu canavara kendi gücünü, tahtını ve büyük yetkisini verdi. 3 Başlarının biri sanki ölümcül bir yara almıştı. Ama ölümcül yarası iyileşti. Bütün dünya şaşkınlık içinde canavarın peşinden gitti. 4 İnsanlar canavara bu yetkiyi veren ejderhaya taptılar. Aynı zamanda canavara da taptılar. "Canavarın benzeri var mı? Onunla kim savaşabilir?" dediler.

5 Canavara, büyük konuşan ve Allahʼa hakaret eden bir ağız verildi. Bu yetkiyi kırk iki ay süreyle kullanmasına izin verildi. 6 Canavar ağzını açtı, Allahʼa, Oʼnun adına ve Oʼnun yaşadığı yere, yani gökte yaşayanlara hakaret etti. 7 Allahʼın kutsal halkıyla savaşıp onları yenmesine izin verildi. Canavara, her oymak, her halk, her dil ve her millet üzerinde hüküm sürme yetkisi de verildi. 8 Yeryüzünde oturanların hepsi canavara tapacak. Onlar, boğazlanmış Kuzuʼnun yaşam kitabında dünyanın yaratılışından beri adı yazılmamış olanlardır. 9 Kulağı olan işitsin!

11 Sonra ikinci bir canavar gördüm. Yerden çıkan bu canavar, kuzu boynuzuna benzer iki boynuza sahipti. Ama ejderha gibi konuşuyordu. 12 İkinci canavar, birinci canavarın bütün yetkisini onun adına kullanır. Yeryüzünü ve orada oturanları ölümcül yarası iyileşmiş birinci canavara tapmaya zorlar. 13 Büyük mucizeler yapar. İnsanların gözü önünde gökten yeryüzüne ateş bile yağdırır. 14 İkinci canavar yaptığı mucizelerle yeryüzündeki insanları kandırdı. Bunu birinci canavarın önünde yaptı ve insanlara kılıçla yaralandıktan sonra sağ kalan birinci canavarın heykelini yapmalarını söyledi. 15 Birinci canavarın heykeline nefes vermesine izin verildi. Böylece canavarın heykeli konuşabilecek ve kendisine tapmayan herkesin öldürülmesini emredecekti. 16 Küçük büyük, zengin fakir, özgür köle, herkesi sağ eline ya da alnına işaret almaya zorlar. 17 İşaret canavarın adı veya adını gösteren sayıdır. İşaretsiz kimse bir şey alıp satamazdı.

18 Bu, hikmet gerektiren bir şeydir. Akıl sahibi, o canavarın sayısını hesaplasın, çünkü bu sayı bir insanın sayısıdır*13:18 Çünkü bu sayı bir insanın sayısıdır. Ayrıca "Çünkü bu sayı insan sayısıdır" diye tercüme edilebilir.. Canavarın sayısı 666ʼdır.

Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
