It happened on another Sabbath that he went into the synagogue and was teaching. There was a man there whose right hand was withered.

The scribes and Pharisees watched to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, wishing to find something to accuse him of.

But he knew their thoughts and said to the man with the withered hand, "Rise, and stand in the center." He rose and stood.

Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?"

He looked around at all of them, then said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did so and his hand was restored.
