1 Am einundzwanzigsten Tage des siebenten Monats erging das Wort des HERRN durch den Propheten Haggai also:
2 Sage doch zu Serubbabel, dem Sohne Sealtiels, dem Statthalter von Juda, und zu Josua, dem Sohne Jozadaks, dem Hohenpriester, und zu dem übrigen Volk und sprich:
3 Wer ist unter euch übriggeblieben, der dies Haus in seiner frühern Herrlichkeit gesehen hat? Und wie sehet ihr es jetzt? Ist es nicht so viel wie nichts in euren Augen?
4 Aber nun sei stark, Serubbabel, spricht der HERR; auch du Josua, sei stark, du Sohn Jozadaks, du Hoherpriester, und alles Volk des Landes, seid stark, spricht der HERR, und arbeitet! Denn ich bin mit euch, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen.
5 Das Wort, gemäß welchem ich mit euch einen Bund gemacht habe, als ihr aus Ägypten zoget, soll bestehen, und mein Geist bleibt in eurer Mitte; fürchtet euch nicht!
6 Denn also spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Noch einen kleinen Augenblick, und ich erschüttere den Himmel und die Erde, das Meer und das Trockene;
7 und ich will auch alle Nationen erschüttern, und es werden die Kostbarkeiten aller Nationen kommen, und ich will dieses Haus mit Herrlichkeit erfüllen, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen.
8 Mein ist das Silber, und mein ist das Gold, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen.
9 Es soll die Herrlichkeit dieses letzten Hauses größer werden, als die des ersten war, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen; und an diesem Orte will ich Frieden geben, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen.
10 Am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des neunten Monats, im zweiten Jahre des Darius, erging das Wort des HERRN durch den Propheten Haggai also:
11 So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Frage doch die Priester über das Gesetz und sprich:
12 Wenn jemand heiliges Fleisch im Zipfel seines Kleides trägt und mit seinem Zipfel Brot oder ein Gericht oder Wein oder Öl oder irgend eine Speise berührt, wird dieses dadurch heilig? Die Priester antworteten und sprachen: Nein!
13 Da sprach Haggai: Wenn aber jemand, der sich an einer Leiche verunreinigt hat, eines von diesen Dingen anrührt, wird es dadurch unrein? Die Priester antworteten: Es wird unrein!
14 Da antwortete Haggai und sprach: Ebenso ist auch dieses Volk und diese Nation vor mir, spricht der HERR; so ist jedes Werk ihrer Hände und was sie daselbst opfern: unrein ist es!
15 Und nun, beachtet doch, wie es euch ergangen ist vor diesem Tage und früher, ehe man Stein auf Stein legte am Tempel des HERRN!
16 Bevor dies geschah, kam man zum Kornhaufen von zwanzig Scheffeln, so waren es nur zehn; kam man zur Kufe, um fünfzig Eimer zu schöpfen, so waren es bloß zwanzig!
17 Ich schlug euch mit Getreidebrand und mit Vergilben und Hagel alles Werk eurer Hände; dennoch seid ihr nicht umgekehrt zu mir, spricht der HERR.
18 Gebt nun acht von diesem Tage an und weiterhin, vom vierundzwanzigsten Tage des neunten Monats an, von dem Tage an, da der Tempel des HERRN gegründet worden ist, merket auf!
19 Ist etwa der Same noch im Speicher? So hat auch der Weinstock, der Feigen, Granatäpfel und Olivenbaum noch nichts getragen; aber von diesem Tage an will ich segnen!
20 Und das Wort des HERRN erging zum zweitenmal an Haggai am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des Monats also:
21 Sage zu Serubbabel, dem Statthalter von Juda: Ich erschüttere den Himmel und die Erde
22 und will Königsthrone umstoßen und die Macht der heidnischen Königreiche zertrümmern, und ich will die Kriegswagen umstoßen samt ihren Reitern, daß Roß und Mann zu Boden sinken und ein jeder umkomme durch das Schwert des andern.
23 An jenem Tage, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, will ich dich, Serubbabel, Sohn Sealtiels, meinen Knecht, nehmen und dich anstecken wie einen Siegelring; denn dich habe ich erwählt, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen!
1 In the seventh [month], in the twenty and first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
2 `Speak, I pray thee, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, and unto the remnant of the people, saying:
3 Who among you hath been left that saw this house in its former honour? And what are ye seeing it now? Is it not, compared with it, as nothing in your eyes?
4 And now, be strong, O Zerubbabel, An affirmation of Jehovah, And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, And be strong, all ye people of the land, An affirmation of Jehovah, And do ye -- (for I [am] with you, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts) --
5 The thing that I covenanted with you, In your coming forth from Egypt, And My Spirit is remaining in your midst, fear not.
6 For thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Yet once more -- it [is] a little, And I am shaking the heavens and the earth, And the sea, and the dry land,
7 And I have shaken all the nations, And they have come [to] the desire of all the nations, And I have filled this house [with] honour, Said Jehovah of Hosts.
8 Mine [is] the silver, and Mine the gold, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.
9 Greater is the honour of this latter house, Than of the former, said Jehovah of Hosts, And in this place do I give peace, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.`
10 On the twenty and fourth of the ninth [month], in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
11 Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: `Ask, I pray thee, the priests [of] the law, saying:
12 Lo, one doth carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and he hath come with his skirt against the bread, or against the pottage, or against the wine, or against the oil, or against any food -- is it holy?` And the priests answer and say, `No.`
13 And Haggai saith, `If the unclean of body doth come against any of these, is it unclean?` And the priests answer and say, `It is unclean.`
14 And Haggai answereth and saith, `So [is] this people, and so [is] this nation before Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and so [is] every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there -- it is unclean.
15 And now, lay [it], I pray you, to your heart, From this day, and onwards, Before the laying of stone to stone in the temple of Jehovah.
16 From that time [one] hath come to a heap of twenty, And it hath been ten, He hath come unto the wine-fat to draw out fifty purahs, And it hath been twenty.
17 I have smitten you with blasting, And with mildew, and with hail -- All the work of your hands, And there is none of you with Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.
18 Set [it], I pray you, to your heart, from this day and onwards, from the twenty and fourth day of the ninth [month], even from the day that the temple of Jehovah hath been founded, set [it] to your heart.
19 Is the seed yet in the barn? And hitherto the vine and the fig, And the pomegranate, and the olive-tree, Have not borne -- from this day I bless.`
20 And there is a word of Jehovah a second time unto Haggai, on the twenty and fourth of the month, saying:
21 `Speak unto Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying: I am shaking the heavens and the earth,
22 And have overturned the throne of kingdoms, And I have destroyed the strength of kingdoms of the nations, And overturned chariot and its charioteers, And come down have horses and their riders, Each by the sword of his brother.
23 In that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, I take thee, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And have set thee as a signet, for on thee I have fixed, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!
