1 Dies ist das Geschlecht Esaus, welcher Edom heißt.
2 Esau nahm seine Weiber von den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter Elons, des Hetiters, und Oholibama, die Tochter der Ana, der Tochter Zibeons, des Heviters;
3 dazu Basmath, die Tochter Ismaels, Nebajots Schwester.
4 Und Ada gebar dem Esau den Eliphas. Aber Basmath gebar den Reguel.
5 Oholibama gebar Jehusch und Jaelam und Korah. Das sind die Söhne Esaus, welche ihm im Lande Kanaan geboren wurden.
6 Und Esau nahm seine Weiber und seine Söhne und seine Töchter und alle Seelen seines Hauses, auch seine Habe und all sein Vieh und alle Güter, die er im Lande Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog von seinem Bruder Jakob weg in ein anderes Land.
7 Denn ihre Habe war zu groß, daß sie nicht beieinander wohnen konnten; und das Land, darin sie Fremdlinge waren, mochte sie nicht ertragen wegen ihrer Herden.
8 Also wohnte Esau auf dem Gebirge Seir; Esau ist der Edom.
9 Dies ist das Geschlecht Esaus, der ein Vater ist der Edomiter auf dem Gebirge Seir.
10 Und also hießen die Söhne Esaus: Eliphas, der Sohn Anas, des Weibes Esaus; Reguel, der Sohn Basmaths, des Weibes Esaus;
11 Eliphas Söhne aber waren diese: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gaetam und Kenas.
12 Und Timna war ein Kebsweib Eliphas, des Sohnes Esaus, die gebar dem Eliphas den Amalek. Das sind die Kinder von Ada, dem Weibe Esaus.
13 Aber die Kinder Reguels sind diese: Nahath, Serah, Schamma und Missa. Das sind die Kinder von Basmath, dem Weibe Esaus.
14 Die Kinder aber von Oholibama, dem Weibe Esaus, der Tochter der Ana, der Tochter Zibeons, die sie Esau gebar, sind diese: Jehusch, Jaelam und Korah.
15 Das sind die Fürsten unter den Söhnen Esaus. Die Söhne Eliphas, des ersten Sohnes Esaus, waren diese: Der Fürst Teman, der Fürst Omar, der Fürst Zepho, der Fürst Kenas,
16 der Fürst Korah, der Fürst Gaetam, der Fürst Amalek. Das sind die Fürsten von Eliphas im Lande Edom und sind Söhne der Ada.
17 Und das sind die Kinder Reguels, des Sohnes Esaus: Der Fürst Nahat, der Fürst Serah, der Fürst Schamma, der Fürst Missa. Das sind die Fürsten von Reguel im Lande Edom und die Söhne der Basmath, des Weibes Esaus.
18 Dies sind die Söhne Oholibamas, des Weibes Esaus: Der Fürst Jehusch, der Fürst Jaelam, der Fürst Korah. Das sind die Fürsten von Oholibama, der Tochter der Ana, des Weibes Esaus.
19 Das sind die Kinder Esaus und ihre Fürsten. Er ist der Edom.
20 Die Söhne Seirs aber, des Horiters, die im Lande wohnten, sind diese: Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana,
21 Dison, Ezer und Disan. Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter, Kinder des Seir im Lande Edom.
22 Aber Lotans Kinder waren diese: Hori und Hemam; und Lotans Schwester hieß Timna.
23 Die Söhne Sobals waren diese: Alwan, Manabath, Ebal, Sepho und Onam.
24 Die Söhne Zibeons waren: Aja und Ana. Das ist Ana, der in der Wüste die heißen Quellen fand, als er die Esel seines Vaters Zibeon hütete.
25 Die Kinder Anas waren: Dison und Oholibama, diese ist die Tochter Anas.
26 Die Söhne Disons waren: Hemdan, Esban, Jithran und Cheran.
27 Die Söhne Ezers waren: Bilhan, Saewan und Akan.
28 Die Söhne Disans waren: Uz und Aran.
29 Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter: Der Fürst Lotan, der Fürst Sobal, der Fürst Zibeon, der Fürst Ana,
30 der Fürst Dison, der Fürst Ezer, der Fürst Disan. Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter nach ihren Fürstentümern im Lande Seir.
31 Die Könige aber, welche im Lande Edom regiert haben, ehe ein König über die Kinder Israel regierte, sind diese:
32 Bela, ein Sohn Beors, war König in Edom, und seine Stadt hieß Dinhaba.
33 Und als Bela starb, ward an seiner Statt König: Jobab, ein Sohn Serahs aus Bozra.
34 Als Jobab starb, ward Husam aus der Temaniter Land König an seiner Statt.
35 Als Husam starb, ward an seiner Statt König: Hadad, ein Sohn Bedads, welcher die Midianiter auf der Moabiter Gefilde schlug; und seine Stadt hieß Awith.
36 Als Hadad starb, ward Samla von Masreka König an seiner Statt.
37 Als Samla starb, ward Saul von Rechobot am Flusse König an seiner Statt.
38 Als Saul starb, ward Baal-Hanan, ein Sohn Achbors, König an seiner Statt.
39 Als Baal-Hanan, Achbors Sohn, starb, ward Hadar König an seiner Statt; und seine Stadt hieß Pahu, sein Weib hieß Mehethabeel; eine Tochter der Mathred, der Tochter Mezahabs.
40 Also hießen die Fürsten von Esau nach ihren Geschlechtern, Orten und Namen: Der Fürst Timna, der Fürst Alwa, der Fürst Jetet,
41 der Fürst Oholibama, der Fürst Ela, der Fürst Pinon,
42 der Fürst Kenas, der Fürst Teman, der Fürst Mibzar,
43 der Fürst Magdiel, der Fürst Iram. Das sind die Fürsten in Edom, wie sie im Lande ihrer Besitzung gewohnt haben. Und Esau ist der Vater der Edomiter.
1 And these [are] births of Esau, who [is] Edom.
2 Esau hath taken his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,
3 and Bashemath daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebajoth.
4 And Adah beareth to Esau, Eliphaz; and Bashemath hath born Reuel;
5 and Aholibamah hath born Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah. These [are] sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 And Esau taketh his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance which he hath acquired in the land of Canaan, and goeth into the country from the face of Jacob his brother;
7 for their substance was more abundant than to dwell together, and the land of their sojournings was not able to bear them because of their cattle;
8 and Esau dwelleth in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.
9 And these [are] births of Esau, father of Edom, in mount Seir.
10 These [are] the names of the sons of Esau: Eliphaz son of Adah, wife of Esau; Reuel son of Bashemath, wife of Esau.
11 And the sons of Eliphaz are Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz;
12 and Timnath hath been concubine to Eliphaz son of Esau, and she beareth to Eliphaz, Amalek; these [are] sons of Adah wife of Esau.
13 And these [are] sons of Reuel: Nahath and Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah; these were sons of Bashemath wife of Esau.
14 And these have been the sons of Aholibamah daughter of Anah, daughter of Zibeon, wife of Esau; and she beareth to Esau, Jeush and Jaalam and Korah.
15 These [are] chiefs of the sons of Esau: sons of Eliphaz, first-born of Esau: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz,
16 chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek; these [are] chiefs of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom; these [are] sons of Adah.
17 And these [are] sons of Reuel son of Esau: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah; these [are] chiefs of Reuel, in the land of Edom; these [are] sons of Bashemath wife of Esau.
18 And these [are] sons of Aholibamah wife of Esau: chief Jeush, chief Jaalam, chief Korah; these [are] chiefs of Aholibamah daughter of Anah, wife of Esau.
19 These [are] sons of Esau (who [is] Edom), and these their chiefs.
20 These [are] sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,
21 and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan; these [are] chiefs of the Horites, sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.
22 And the sons of Lotan are Hori and Heman; and a sister of Lotan [is] Timna.
23 And these [are] sons of Shobal: Alvan and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
24 And these [are] sons of Zibeon, both Ajah and Anah: it [is] Anah that hath found the Imim in the wilderness, in his feeding the asses of Zibeon his father.
25 And these [are] sons of Anah: Dishon, and Aholibamah daughter of Anah.
26 And these [are] sons of Dishon: Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.
27 These [are] sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.
28 These [are] sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29 These [are] chiefs of the Horite: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah,
30 chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan: these [are] chiefs of the Horite in reference to their chiefs in the land of Seir.
31 And these [are] the kings who have reigned in the land of Edom before the reigning of a king over the sons of Israel.
32 And Bela son of Beor reigneth in Edom, and the name of his city [is] Dinhabah;
33 and Bela dieth, and reign in his stead doth Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah;
34 and Jobab dieth, and reign in his stead doth Husham from the land of the Temanite.
35 And Husham dieth, and reign in his stead doth Hadad son of Bedad (who smiteth Midian in the field of Moab), and the name of his city [is] Avith;
36 and Hadad dieth, and reign in his stead doth Samlah of Masrekah;
37 and Samlah dieth, and reign in his stead doth Saul from Rehoboth of the River;
38 and Saul dieth, and reign in his stead doth Baal-hanan son of Achbor;
39 and Baal-hanan son of Achbor dieth, and reign in his stead doth Hadar, and the name of his city [is] Pau; and his wife`s name [is] Mehetabel daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-zahab.
40 And these [are] the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families, according to their places, by their names: chief Timnah, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth,
41 chief Aholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon,
42 chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,
43 chief Magdiel, chief Iram: these [are] chiefs of Edom, in reference to their dwellings, in the land of their possession; he [is] Esau father of Edom.
