Israel é aconselhado a buscar a Jeová

1 Ouvi esta palavra que levanto com *Jr 7.29;9.10,17;Ez 19.1pranto sobre vós, ó casa de Israel: 2 Caiu *Jr 14.17a virgem de Israel; *Am 8.14não se levantará mais; atirada está sobre a sua terra; *Is 51.18;Jr 50.32não há quem a levante. 3 Pois assim diz o Senhor Jeová: A cidade que saiu à guerra em número de mil terá de resto *Is 6.13cem, e a que saiu em número de cem terá *Am 6.9dez, para a casa de Israel.

4 Pois assim diz Jeová à casa de Israel: *Dt 4.29;32.46-47Buscai-me e vivereis; 5 não busqueis, porém, *Am 3.14;4.4;7.10,13;1Rs 12.28-29a Betel, nem entreis em *1Sm 7.16;11.14Gilgal, nem passeis a *Am 8.14;Gn 21.31-33Berseba, porque Gilgal, certamente, irá ao cativeiro, e Betel ficará reduzida a nada. 6 *Am 5.14;Is 55.3,6,7Buscai a Jeová e vivereis, para que ele não irrompa como *Dt 4.24fogo na casa de José, e o fogo devore, e não haja quem o apague *Am 3.14em Betel. 7 Vós que converteis o *Am 5.12;Am 2.3;6.12juízo em absinto e lançais por terra a justiça, 8 buscai aquele que faz *Jó 9.9;38.31as Plêiades e Órion, e que *Jó 12.22;38.12;Is 42.16troca em manhã a sombra da morte, e com *Am 8.9as trevas transforma o dia em noite; o que *Am 9.6;Sl 104.6-9chama as águas do mar e as derrama sobre a face da terra; *Am 4.13Jeová é o seu nome. 9 Ele é o que faz cair *Am 2.14;Jó 5.3;Is 29.5repentina destruição sobre o forte, de sorte que venha *Mq 5.11a destruição sobre a fortaleza.

10 Aborrecem ao que na porta *Am 5.15;Is 29.21usa de repreensões *Is 59.15;Jr 17.16-18e abominam o que fala sinceramente. 11 Por isso, porque *Am 3.9;8.6pisais aos pés o pobre e dele recebeis exações de trigo, tendes edificado *Am 3.15;6.11casas de pedras lavradas, porém nelas não habitareis; tendes plantado vinhas deliciosas, porém *Mq 6.15não bebereis do vinho delas. 12 Pois sei quão numerosas são as vossas transgressões e quão grandes, os vossos pecados, vós que *Is 1.23;5.23afligis o justo, que aceitais peitas, e que na porta rejeitais o *Am 2.6-7necessitado. 13 Portanto, o prudente *Ec 3.7;Os 4.4se calará naquele tempo, porque é tempo mau.

14 *Am 5.6Buscai o bem e não o mal, para que vivais; e assim Jeová, Deus dos Exércitos, será convosco, *Is 48.1-2como dizeis. 15 *Sl 97.10Aborrecei o mal, e amai o bem, e estabelecei na porta o juízo. *Jl 2.14Pode ser que Jeová, Deus dos Exércitos, se compadeça do *Mq 5.3,7,8resto de José.

16 Portanto, assim diz Jeová, Deus dos Exércitos, o Senhor: Em todas as praças haverá *Am 8.3;Jr 9.10,18-20pranto; e em todas as ruas dirão: Ai! Ai! Eles chamarão *Jl 1.11o lavrador para o pranto e, para o choro, os que *2Cr 35.25sabem carpir. 17 Em todas *Is 16.10;Jr 48.33as vinhas haverá pranto, porque passarei pelo meio de ti, diz Jeová.

O Dia de Jeová

18 Ai de vós que desejais *Is 5.19;Jl 1.15;2.1,11,31o Dia de Jeová! Para que desejais vós o Dia de Jeová? Ele é *Is 5.30;9.19;Jr 30.7trevas e não luz. 19 É como se um homem *Jó 20.24;Is 24.17-18;Jr 15.2-3fugisse de diante dum leão, e lhe saísse ao encontro um urso; ou como se entrasse em casa e encostasse a mão à parede, e o mordesse uma cobra. 20 Acaso, não será o Dia de Jeová *Is 13.10;Sf 1.15trevas e não luz? Sim, bem escuro, sem que haja nele resplendor algum.

21 *Am 4.4-5;8.10;Is 1.11-16;66.3Aborreço, desprezo as vossas festas *Lv 26.31;Jr 14.12;Os 5.6e não me deleitarei nas vossas assembleias solenes. 22 Pois, ainda *Mq 6.6-7que me ofereçais os vossos holocaustos e as vossas ofertas de cereais, não os aceitarei, nem atentarei para *Am 4.5;Lv 7.11-15as ofertas pacíficas dos vossos animais cevados. 23 Aparta de mim *Am 6.4-5;8.10o estrépito dos teus cânticos, porque não ouvirei a melodia das tuas liras. 24 Porém desça *Jr 22.3;Ez 45.9;Mq 6.8o juízo como águas, e a justiça, como uma torrente poderosa.

25 Porventura, ó casa de Israel, *Dt 32.17-19;Js 24.14;Ne 9.18,21;At 7.42-43oferecestes-me sacrifícios e ofertas no deserto durante quarenta anos? 26 Sim, levastes Sicute, vosso rei, e Quium, vossas imagens, a estrela do vosso deus, que fizestes para vós. 27 Portanto, vos levarei cativos para *Am 7.11,17;Mq 4.10além de Damasco, diz *Am 4.13Jeová, cujo nome é o Deus dos Exércitos.

1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel. 2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up. 3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.

4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live: 5 But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought. 6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el. 7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth, 8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name: 9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.*5.9 spoiled: Heb. spoil 10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly. 11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.*5.11 pleasant…: Heb. vineyards of desire 12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.*5.12 a bribe: or, a ransom 13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time. 14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. 15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing. 17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD. 18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. 19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. 20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.*5.21 in…: or, your holy days 22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.*5.22 peace…: or, thank offerings 23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. 24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.*5.24 run: Heb. roll 25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? 26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.*5.26 the tabernacle…: or, Siccuth your king 27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
