1 Exorto, pois, antes de tudo, que se façam súplicas, orações, intercessões, ações de graças por todos os homens,2 pelos reis e pelos que estão elevados em dignidade, para que vivamos uma vida sossegada e tranqüila em toda a piedade e honestidade.3 Isto é bom e agradável diante de Deus nosso Salvador,4 que deseja que todos os homens sejam salvos, e que cheguem ao pleno conhecimento da verdade.5 Pois só há um Deus e só há um mediador entre Deus e os homens, Cristo Jesus homem,6 que se deu a si mesmo em resgate por todos-testemunho que se deve dar em seus tempos;7 para o que eu fui constituído pregador e apóstolo (digo a verdade, não minto), mestre dos gentios na fé e na verdade.8 Quero, pois, que os homens orem em todo o lugar, levantando mãos santas, sem ira e sem contenda.9 Quero também que as mulheres em traje honesto se ataviem com modéstia e sobriedade, e não com tranças, ouro, pérolas, ou vestidos custosos;10 mas (como convém a mulheres que se dizem piedosas) com boas obras.11 A mulher aprenda em silêncio com toda a sujeição;12 pois não permito à mulher que ensine, nem que tenha domínio sobre o homem; mas que esteja em silêncio.13 Pois Adão foi formado primeiro, depois Eva.14 Adão não foi seduzido, mas a mulher é que, deixando-se iludir, caiu na transgressão;15 entretanto ela será salva no dar filhos ao mundo, se permanecer na fé, no amor e na santidade com moderação.
1 I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,2 They should be made for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.4 It is Gods desire that all men have salvation and come to the full preciseaccuratecorrect knowledge Greek: epignosis: recognition, discernment of the truth.5 There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.6 He gave himself as a ransom for all. A witness was to be given at the right time.7 Because of this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle. What I say is true, not false, and I am a teacher of the nations in the true faith.8 I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or argument.9 Likewise I want women to be adorned in modest clothing, with modesty and soundness of mind; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly clothes;10 but that which becomes a woman professing godliness through good works.11 Let a woman learn in silence with all subjection.12 I do not permit a woman to teach or have dominion over a man, but to remain quiet.13 Adam was first formed and then Eve.14 Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression.15 She will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.
