1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had his hand withered.2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day; that they might accuse him.3 And he says to the man who had his hand withered, Stand in the middle [of the synagogue].4 And he says to them, Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.5 And when he had looked around on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he says to the man, Stretch forth [your] hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored.6 And the Pharisees went out, and right away with the Herodians gave counsel against him, how they might destroy him.7 And Jesus with his disciples withdrew to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and from Judea,8 and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and beyond the Jordan, and about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came to him.9 And he spoke to his disciples, that a little boat should wait on him because of the crowd, lest they should throng him:10 for he had healed many; insomuch that as many as had plagues pressed on him that they might touch him.11 And the unclean spirits, whenever they looked at him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, You are the Son of God.12 And he charged them much that they should not make him known.13 And he goes up into the mountain, and calls to him whom he himself wanted; and they went to him.14 And he appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, that they might be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,15 and to have authority to cast out demons.16 And he appointed the twelve: and he gave the name Peter to Simon;17 and James the [son] of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he gave them the name Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder:18 and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean,19 and Judas Iscariot, who also delivered him up.20 And he comes into a house. And the multitude comes together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.21 And when his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.22 And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebul, and, By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons.23 And he called them to him, and said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?24 And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom can't stand.25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he can't stand, but has an end.27 But no one can enter into the house of the strong [man], and spoil his goods, except he first binds the strong [man]; and then he will spoil his house.28 Truly I say to you{+}, All their sins will be forgiven to the sons of men, and their blasphemies by whichever they will blaspheme:29 but whoever will blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin:30 because they said, He has an unclean spirit.31 And his mother and his brothers come; and, standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.32 And a multitude was sitting about him; and they say to him, Look, your mother and your brothers and your sisters outside seek for you.33 And he answers them, and says, Who is my mother and my brothers?34 And looking around on those who sat around him, he says, Here are my mother and my brothers.35 For whoever will do the will of God, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

1 Noutra ocasião ele entrou na sinagoga, e estava ali um homem com uma das mãos atrofiada.2 Alguns deles estavam procurando um motivo para acusar Jesus; por isso o observavam atentamente, para ver se ele iria curá-lo no sábado.3 Jesus disse ao homem da mão atrofiada: "Levante-se e venha para o meio".4 Depois Jesus lhes perguntou: "O que é permitido fazer no sábado: o bem ou o mal, salvar a vida ou matar? " Mas eles permaneceram em silêncio.5 Irado, olhou para os que estavam à sua volta e, profundamente entristecido por causa dos seus corações endurecidos, disse ao homem: "Estenda a mão". Ele a estendeu, e ela foi restaurada.6 Então os fariseus saíram e começaram a conspirar com os herodianos contra Jesus, sobre como poderiam matá-lo.7 Jesus retirou-se com os seus discípulos para o mar, e uma grande multidão vinda da Galiléia o seguia.8 Quando ouviram a respeito de tudo o que ele estava fazendo, muitas pessoas procedentes da Judéia, de Jerusalém, da Iduméia e das regiões do outro lado do Jordão e dos arredores de Tiro e de Sidom foram atrás dele.9 Por causa da multidão, ele disse aos discípulos que lhe preparassem um pequeno barco, para evitar que o comprimissem.10 Pois ele havia curado a muitos, de modo que os que sofriam de doenças ficavam se empurrando para conseguir tocar nele.11 Sempre que os espíritos imundos o viam, prostravam-se diante dele e gritavam: "Tu és o Filho de Deus".12 Mas ele lhes dava ordens severas para que não dissessem quem ele era.13 Jesus subiu a um monte e chamou a si aqueles que ele quis, os quais vieram para junto dele.14 Escolheu doze, designando-os como apóstolos, para que estivessem com ele, os enviasse a pregar15 e tivessem autoridade para expulsar demônios.16 Estes são os doze que ele escolheu: Simão, a quem deu o nome de Pedro;17 Tiago, filho de Zebedeu, e João, seu irmão, aos quais deu o nome de Boanerges, que significa filhos do trovão;18 André; Filipe; Bartolomeu; Mateus; Tomé; Tiago, filho de Alfeu; Tadeu; Simão, o zelote,19 e Judas Iscariotes, que o traiu.20 Então Jesus entrou numa casa, e novamente reuniu-se ali uma multidão, de modo que ele e os seus discípulos não conseguiam nem comer.21 Quando seus familiares ouviram falar disso, saíram para apoderar-se dele, pois diziam: "Ele está fora de si".22 E os mestres da lei que haviam descido de Jerusalém diziam: "Ele está com Belzebu! Pelo príncipe dos demônios é que ele expulsa demônios".23 Então Jesus os chamou e lhes falou por parábolas: "Como pode Satanás expulsar Satanás?24 Se um reino estiver dividido contra si mesmo, não poderá subsistir.25 Se uma casa estiver dividida contra si mesma, também não poderá subsistir.26 E se Satanás se opuser a si mesmo e estiver dividido, não poderá subsistir; chegou o seu fim.27 De fato, ninguém pode entrar na casa do homem forte e levar dali os seus bens, sem que antes o amarre. Só então poderá roubar a casa dele.28 Eu lhes asseguro que todos os pecados e blasfêmias dos homens lhes serão perdoados,29 mas quem blasfemar contra o Espírito Santo nunca terá perdão: é culpado de pecado eterno".30 Jesus falou isso porque eles estavam dizendo: "Ele está com um espírito imundo".31 Então chegaram a mãe e os irmãos de Jesus. Ficando do lado de fora, mandaram alguém chamá-lo.32 Havia muita gente assentada ao seu redor; e lhe disseram: "Tua mãe e teus irmãos estão lá fora e te procuram".33 "Quem é minha mãe, e quem são meus irmãos? ", perguntou ele.34 Então olhou para os que estavam assentados ao seu redor e disse: "Aqui estão minha mãe e meus irmãos!35 Quem faz a vontade de Deus, este é meu irmão, minha irmã e minha mãe".
