1 Davi e os chefes do exército apartaram para o serviço os filhos de Asaf, de Hemã e de Iditum, que profetizavam ao som da harpa, da cítara e dos címbalos. Eis a lista dos homens encarregados deste serviço:2 Dos filhos de Asaf: Zacur, José, Natania e Asarela, filhos de Asaf, sob a direção de Asaf, que profetizava segundo as ordens do rei.3 De Iditum: os filhos de Iditum: Godolias, Sori, Jeseías, Hasabias, Matatias, e Semei, seis, sob as ordens de seu pai Iditum, que profetizava com a cítara para cantar e louvar ao Senhor.4 De Hemã: os filhos de Hemã: Bociau, Mataniau, Oziel, Subuel, Jerimot, Ananias, Anani, Eliata, Gedelti, Romentiezer, Jesbacassa, Meloti, Otir e Maaziot;5 eram todos filhos de Hamon, que era vidente do rei, para revelar as palavras de Deus e exaltar seu poder: Deus tinha dado a Hemã quatorze filhos e três filhas.6 Eis, portanto, os que, sob a direção de seus pais, estavam encarregados do canto no templo. Tinham címbalos, cítaras e harpas para o serviço do templo, sob as ordens de Davi, de Asaf, de Iditum e de Hemã.7 O número deles, juntamente com seus irmãos exercitados em cantar ao Senhor, todos hábeis em sua arte, atingia o número de duzentos e oitenta e oito.8 Tiraram, pela sorte, a ordem de serviço, pequenos e grandes, mestres e discípulos.9 A primeira sorte caiu por Asaf, a José; a segunda a Godolias com seus irmãos e seus filhos: doze;10 a terceira a Zacur com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;11 a quarta a Isari com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;12 a quinta a Natanias com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;13 a sexta a Bociau com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;14 a sétima, a Isreela com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;15 a oitava a Jeseías com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;16 a nona a Matanias com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;17 a décima a Semeías com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;18 a undécima a Azareel com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;19 a duodécima a Hasabias com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;20 a décima terceira a Subuel com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;21 a décima quarta a Matatias com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;22 a décima quinta a Jerimot com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;23 a décima sexta a Ananias com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;24 a décima sétima a Jesbacassa com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;25 a décima oitava a Anani com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;26 a décima nona a Meloti com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;27 a vigésima a Eliata com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;28 a vigésima primeira a Otir com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;29 a vigésima segunda a Gedelti com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;30 a vigésima terceira a Maaziot com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze;31 a vigésima quarta a Romentiezer com seus filhos e seus irmãos: doze.

1 David also divided off with the chiefs of the host for the service of the sons of Assaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, those who uttered praise accompanied with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and their number was of the men that did the work in their service.2 Of the sons of Assaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethanyah, and Asharelah, the sons of Assaph under the supervision of Assaph, who uttered praise under the supervision of the king.3 Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedalyahu, and Zeri, and Jesha’yahu, Chashahyahu, and Matthithyahu, six, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who uttered praise with a harp, in order to give thanks and to utter praise unto the Lord.4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiyahu, Matthanyahu, ‘Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Chananyah, Chanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti–’ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Machaz’oth;5 All these sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, were to lift up the horn.
