1 Oráculo do Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Moab, não mudarei meu decreto. Porque queimou os ossos do rei de Edom até reduzi-los a cal,2 porei fogo a Moab, e ele consumirá os palácios de Cariot. No tumulto perecerá Moab, entre gritos de guerra e sons de trombeta.3 Exterminarei o seu juiz e farei perecer com ele todos os chefes, diz o Senhor.4 Oráculo do Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Judá, não mudarei meu decreto. Porque desprezaram a lei do Senhor e não observaram seus mandamentos, e porque se deixaram transviar por seus falsos deuses, que já seus pais tinham honrado,5 porei fogo a Judá, e ele devorará os palácios de Jerusalém.6 Oráculo do Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Israel, não mudarei meu decreto. Porque vendem o justo por dinheiro, e o pobre por um par de sandálias,7 porque esmagam no pó da terra a cabeça do pobre, e transviam os pequenos, porque o filho e o pai dormem com a mesma jovem, o que é uma profanação do meu santo nome,8 porque se estendem ao pé de cada altar sobre vestes recebidas em penhor, e bebem no templo do seu Deus o vinho dos que foram multados.9 E, todavia, fui eu que exterminei diante deles os amorreus, cuja estatura se igualava à dos cedros, e que eram fortes como os carvalhos; destruí seus frutos de cima e suas riquezas de baixo;10 fui eu que vos tirei do Egito e vos conduzi, através do deserto, durante quarenta anos, para vos dar a posse da terra dos amorreus;11 suscitei profetas dentre os vossos filhos, e nazarenos dentre os vossos jovens; não é assim, filhos de Israel? - Oráculo do Senhor.12 Mas vós fizestes beber vinho aos nazarenos, e proibistes aos profetas que profetizassem.13 Pois bem! Eis que eu vos vou fazer ranger como um carro carregado de feno.14 Não haverá mais fuga possível para o homem ágil, o forte não encontrará mais sua força, o valente não salvará sua vida,15 o arqueiro não poderá resistir, nem o homem de pés ligeiros poderá escapar, nem o cavaleiro salvará sua vida,16 e o mais corajoso entre os valentes fugirá nu, naquele dia - oráculo do Senhor.

1 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he burnt the bones of the king of Edom into lime;2 And I will send a fire against Moab, which shall devour the palaces of Keriyoth: and Moab shall die in the tumult, in the shouting, amidst the sound of the cornet;3 And I will cut off the judges from her midst, and all her princes will I slay, with him, saith the Lord.4 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have despised the law of the Lord, and did not keep his statutes, and their lying idols caused them to err, after which their fathers had walked;5 And I will send out a fire against Judah, which shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.6 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they sold for silver the righteous, and the needy for a pair of shoes;7 That are eager after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same young woman, in order to profane my holy name.8 And upon pledged garments they stretch themselves out by every altar, and the wine of the condemned do they drink in the house of their gods.9 Yet have I destroyed the Emorite from before them, whose height was like the height of cedars, and who was strong as the oaks; but I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.10 And it was I who have brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to take possession of the land of the Emorite.11 And I have raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for nazarites: is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord.12 But ye have given the nazarites wine to drink; and concerning the prophets have ye commanded, saying, Ye shall not prophesy.13 Behold, I press down the ground under you, as the wagon presseth it down that is full of sheaves.14 And refuge shall vanish from the swift, and the strong shall not make use of his force, neither shall the mighty man escape with his life.15 And he that handleth the bow shall not be able to stand; and he that is swift of foot shall not escape: neither shall he that rideth the horse escape with his life.16 And he that is most courageous hearted among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, saith the Lord.
