1 Todo o Israel está registrado nas genealogias: elas encontram-se consignadas no livro dos reis de Israel. Em seguida, Judá foi deportado para Babilônia, por causa de suas infidelidades.
2 Os primeiros habitantes que viveram em suas possessões e suas cidades eram israelitas, sacerdotes, levitas e os natineus.
3 Em Jerusalém, habitaram filhos de Judá, de Benjamim, de Efraim e de Manassés; de Farés, filho de Judá:
4 Otei, filho de Amiud, filho de Amri, filho de Omrai, filho de Boni;
5 dentre os silonitas: Asaia, filho mais velho, e seus filhos;
6 dentre os filhos de Zara: Jeuel e seus irmãos. Ao todo seiscentos e noventa.
7 Dentre os filhos de Benjamim: Salo, filho de Mosolão, filho de Oduia, filho de Asana,
8 e Jobania, filho de Jeroão. Ela, filho de Ozi, filho de Mocori; Mosolão, filho de Safatia, filho de Rauel, filho de Jebania.
9 Com seus irmãos, segundo suas gerações, eram eles 956; todos chefes de famílias, segundo suas casas patriarcais.
10 Entre os sacerdotes: Jedaia, Joiarib, Joaquim,
11 Azarias, filho de Helcias, filho de Mosolão, filho de Sadoc, filho de Maraiot, filho de Aquitob, chefe da casa de Deus;
12 Adaías, filho de Jeroão, filho de Fassur, filho de Melquias; Maasai, filho de Adiel, filho de Jezra, filho de Mosolão, filho de Mosolamit, filho de Emer.
13 Eles e seus irmãos, chefes de suas casas patriarcais, perfaziam um total de mil setecentos e sessenta homens valorosos, ocupados no serviço da casa de Deus.
14 Entre os levitas: Semeia, filho de Hassub, filho de Ezricão, filho de Hasebia, descendente de Merari;
15 Bacbacar, Heres, Galal, Matania, filho de Mica, filho de Zecri, filho de Asaf;
16 Obdia, filho de Semeia, filho de Gala, filho de Iditum; Baraquia, filho de Asa, filho de Elcana, que morava nas cidades dos netofateus.
17 Entre os porteiros: Selum, Acub, Telmon, Aimão e seus irmãos. Deles o chefe era Selum;
18 era ele ainda o guarda da porta do Rei, ao oriente. São estes os porteiros para o acampamento dos levitas:
19 Selum, filho de Coré, filho de Abiasaf, filho de Coré e seus irmãos; os coritas, da casa de seu pai, ocupavam as funções de guardas das portas do tabernáculo. Seus pais tinham guardado a entrada do acampamento do Senhor.
20 Finéias, filho de Eleazar, outrora tinha sido chefe deles, e o Senhor estava com ele.
21 Zacarias, filho de Mosolamia, era porteiro na entrada da tenda de reunião.
22 Esses guardas das portas tinham sido escolhidos em número de duzentos e doze, registrados nas genealogias, segundo suas aldeias. Davi e Samuel, o vidente, tinham-nos estabelecido em suas funções.
23 Eles e seus filhos estavam colocados à guarda das portas da casa do Senhor, das casas do tabernáculo.
24 Havia porteiros nos quatro lados do templo, a leste, a oeste, ao norte e ao sul.
25 Seus irmãos, que moravam nas aldeias, vinham para junto deles cada semana, cada um por seu turno.
26 Os quatro chefes dos porteiros, que eram levitas, ficavam constantemente em função, tendo ainda que vigiar os depósitos e os tesouros da casa de Deus.
27 Moravam ao redor da casa de Deus, da qual estavam encarregados da guarda, assim como do cargo de abri-la todas as manhãs.
28 Outros se encarregavam da vigilância dos objetos do culto que inventariavam à entrada e à saída.
29 Outros ainda cuidavam dos utensílios do santuário, da flor de farinha, do vinho, do azeite, do incenso e dos aromas.
30 Os filhos dos sacerdotes compunham as essências aromáticas.
31 Matatias, um levita, primogênito de Selum, o corita, tinha a seu cuidado as tortas que se coziam na sertã.
32 Alguns de seus irmãos, filhos dos caatitas, estavam encarregados de preparar para cada Sabbat os pães da proposição.
33 Eram estes {também} os cantores, chefes das famílias levíticas: moravam nos apartamentos do templo, isentos de outras funções, para exercerem a sua, dia e noite.
34 São eles os chefes das famílias dos levitas, segundo suas genealogias: moravam em Jerusalém.
35 O pai dos gabaonitas, Jeiel, habitava em Gabaon; sua mulher se chamava Maaca.
36 Seu filho mais velho, Abdon; em seguida Sur, Cis, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 Gedor, Aio, Zacarias e Macelot.
38 Macelot gerou Samaã. Eles moravam também com seus irmãos em Jerusalém.
39 Ner gerou Cis, Cis gerou Saul, Saul gerou Jônatas, Melquisua, Abinadab e Esbaal.
40 Filho de Jônatas: Meribaal. Meribaal gerou Mica.
41 Filhos de Mica: Fiton, Melec, Taraa.
42 Aaz gerou Jara, Jara gerou Alamat, Azmot e Zamri. Zamri gerou Mosa.
43 Mosa gerou Banaa, Rafaia, seu filho, Elasa, seu filho, Asel, seu filho;
44 Asel teve seis filhos, cujos nomes são: Ezricão, Bocru, Ismael, Saria, Obdia, Hanã. São estes os filhos de Asel.
1 All Israel was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
2 Now the first to resettle on their own property in their own towns were some Israelites, priests, Levites and temple servants.
3 Those from Judah, from Benjamin, and from Ephraim and Manasseh who lived in Jerusalem were:
4 Uthai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, a descendant of Perez son of Judah.

11 Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the official in charge of the house of God;
12 Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malkijah; and Maasai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer.
13 The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.
14 Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a Merarite;
15 Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah son of Mika, the son of Zikri, the son of Asaph;
16 Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.
17 The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their fellow Levites, Shallum their chief
18 being stationed at the King's Gate on the east, up to the present time. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the camp of the Levites.
19 Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his fellow gatekeepers from his family (the Korahites) were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent just as their ancestors had been responsible for guarding the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.
20 In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar was the official in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.
21 Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22 Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David and Samuel the seer.
23 They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the LORD —the house called the tent of meeting.
24 The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south.
25 Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day periods.
26 But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God.
27 They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning.
28 Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out.
29 Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the special flour and wine, and the olive oil, incense and spices.
30 But some of the priests took care of mixing the spices.
31 A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with the responsibility for baking the offering bread.
32 Some of the Kohathites, their fellow Levites, were in charge of preparing for every Sabbath the bread set out on the table.
33 Those who were musicians, heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night.
34 All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs as listed in their genealogy, and they lived in Jerusalem.
35 Jeiel the father "of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife's name was Maakah,
36 and his firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah and Mikloth.
38 Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They too lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
39 Ner was the father of Kish, Kish the father of Saul, and Saul the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab and Esh-Baal. [^3]
40 The son of Jonathan: Merib-Baal, "who was the father of Micah.
41 The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melek, Tahrea and Ahaz. [^5]
42 Ahaz was the father of Jadah, Jadah "was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth and Zimri, and Zimri was the father of Moza.
43 Moza was the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son and Azel his son.
44 Azel had six sons, and these were their names: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
