1 The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place, because the band of men who came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the oldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned. 2 Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri. 3 He also walked in the ways of Ahab’s house, because his mother was his counselor in acting wickedly. 4 He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, as did Ahab’s house, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction. 5 He also followed their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram. 6 He returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Azariah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

7 Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went to Joram; for when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had anointed to cut off Ahab’s house. 8 When Jehu was executing judgment on Ahab’s house, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah serving Ahaziah, and killed them. 9 He sought Ahaziah, and they caught him (now he was hiding in Samaria), and they brought him to Jehu and killed him; and they buried him, for they said, "He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Yahweh with all his heart." The house of Ahaziah had no power to hold the kingdom.

10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal offspring of the house of Judah. 11 But Jehoshabeath, the king’s daughter, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stealthily rescued him from among the king’s sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that she didn’t kill him. 12 He was with them hidden in God’s house six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.

1 耶路撒冷的居民立了约兰的小儿子亚哈谢接续他作王； 因为那些和阿拉伯人同来攻营的匪徒， 把亚哈谢的哥哥全都杀了。这样， 犹大王约兰的儿子亚哈谢就作了王。

2 亚哈谢登基的时候是二十二岁（"二十二岁"原文作"四十二岁"； 现参照古译本和王下8:26修译）； 他在耶路撒冷作王一年。他的母亲名叫亚他利雅， 是暗利的孙女。

3 亚哈谢也随从亚哈家的道路， 因为他母亲教唆他行恶。

4 他行耶和华看为恶的事， 好像亚哈家一样， 因为他的父亲死了以后， 亚哈家的人就教唆他， 好使他灭亡。

5 他随从了他们的计谋， 和以色列王亚哈的儿子约兰一同到基列的拉末去， 和亚兰王哈薛交战； 亚兰人击伤了约兰。

6 于是约兰回到耶斯列去， 医治他在拉末和亚兰王交战的时候所受的伤。犹大王约兰的儿子亚撒利雅， 因亚哈的儿子约兰病了， 就下到耶斯列去看他。

7 亚哈谢去见约兰， 就遇了害， 这原是出于 神； 因为他去到以后， 就和约兰一同出去攻击宁示的孙子耶户。这耶户就是耶和华所膏的， 为要除灭亚哈家。

8 耶户讨伐亚哈家的罪的时候， 遇见了犹大的众领袖和亚哈谢的兄弟的儿子， 他们都是侍候亚哈谢的， 耶户把他们都杀了。

9 耶户追寻亚哈谢。那时， 亚哈谢躲藏在撒玛利亚， 有人捉住他， 把他带到耶户那里， 耶户就杀了他， 却把他埋葬了， 因为他们说： "他是约沙法的孙子； 这约沙法是一心寻求耶和华的。"这样， 亚哈谢的家没有一人有能力可以保持王权的。

10 亚哈谢的母亲亚他利雅见自己的儿子死了， 就起来杀尽犹大家中所有王族的后裔。

11 但是王的女儿约示巴， 把亚哈谢的儿子约阿施从那些将要被杀的王子中偷出来， 把他和他的乳母都藏在卧房里。约兰王的女儿约示巴是大祭司耶何耶大的妻子， 把约阿施收藏起来， 躲避亚他利雅， 免得被亚他利雅杀死， 因为约示巴是亚哈谢的妹妹。

12 约阿施和他们在 神的殿里一同躲藏了六年； 那时亚他利雅统治犹大地。
