| 9 | And the children of Israel did secretly things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city. | És alattomban oly dolgokat cselekedtek az Izráel fiai, a melyek ellenére voltak az Úrnak, az õ Istenöknek, és építettek magoknak magaslatokat minden városaikban, az õrtornyoktól a kerített városokig. |
| 10 | And they set up for themselves images and groves on every high hill, and under every green tree: | És emeltek magoknak faragott képeket és Aserákat minden magas halmokon és minden zöld fa alatt. |
| 11 | And there they burnt incense on all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: | És ott tömjéneztek minden magaslaton, mint a pogányok, a kiket az Úr kiûzött volt elõlök, és gonosz dolgokat cselekedtek, a melyekkel az Urat haragra indították. |
| 12 | For they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, Ye shall not do this thing. | És a bálványoknak szolgáltak, a kik felõl az Úr azt parancsolta volt nékik: Ezt ne cselekedjétek. |
| 13 | Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. | És mikor bizonyságot tett az Úr Izráelben és Júdában minden prófétája és minden látnoka által, ezt mondván: Térjetek meg a ti gonosz útaitokról, és õrizzétek meg az én parancsolataimat és rendeléseimet, az egész törvény szerint, a melyet parancsoltam a ti atyáitoknak; és a melyet ti hozzátok küldöttem az én szolgáim, a próféták által: |
| 14 | Notwithstanding, they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God. | Akkor nem engedelmeskedtek, hanem megkeményítették az õ nyakokat atyáik makacssága szerint, a kik nem hittek az Úrban, az õ Istenökben. |
| 15 | And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. | Sõt megvetették az õ rendeléseit és szövetségét, a melyet atyáikkal kötött, és az õ bizonyságtételeit, a melyekkel megintette õket, és hiábavalóságot követvén, magok is hiábavalókká lettek, és a körültök való pogányok után [indultak, ]a kik felõl pedig azt parancsolta nékik az Úr, hogy azokat ne utánozzák. |
| 16 | And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made for themselves molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. | És elhagyták az Úrnak, az õ Istenöknek minden parancsolatját, és öntött képeket csináltak magoknak, két borjút és készítettek Aserát, és meghajlottak az ég minden seregei elõtt, és a Baált tisztelték. |
| 17 | And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. | És átvitték fiaikat és leányaikat a tûzön, jövendõket mondtak és varázslást ûztek, és magokat teljesen eladták a bûnnek az Úr bosszantására. |
| 18 | Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. | Azért igen megharaguvék az Úr Izráelre, és elveté õt színe elõl; és semmi nem maradt meg, hanem csak a Júda nemzetsége egyedül. |
| 19 | Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. | Sõt még a Júda sem õrizte meg az Úrnak, az õ Istenének parancsolatait, hanem az Izráel szerzésiben jártak, úgy cselekedvén, mint azok. |

| 23 mapa | Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. | 27 mapa | Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land. | Parancsola azért Assiria királya, mondván: Vigyetek oda egyet a papok közül, a kiket onnét elhoztatok, a ki menjen el és lakjék ott, és tanítsa meg õket ama föld Istene tiszteletének módjára. |
| 28 mapa | Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they should fear the LORD. | És elméne egy a papok közül, a kiket Samariából elvittek volt, és lakék Béthelben, és megtanította õket, hogy mikép tiszteljék az Urat. |
| 29 | Yet, every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelt. | De azért mindenik nép külön isteneket csinált magának, és behelyezték azokat a magaslatok házaiba, a melyeket a Samaritánusok építettek, mindenik nemzetség a maga városában, a melyben lakott. |

| 34 | To this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel; | És mind e mai napig az õ régi szokásuk szerint cselekesznek; nem tisztelik [igazán] az Urat, és nem cselekesznek az õ rendeléseik és szokásuk szerint, sem pedig ama törvény és parancsolat szerint, a melyet az Úr parancsolt a Jákób fiainak, a kiknek az Izráel nevet adta. |
| 35 | With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them: | És a kikkel az Úr szövetséget kötött, és megparancsolta nékik, mondván: Ne tiszteljetek idegen isteneket, és ne imádjátok õket, és ne szolgáljatok és ne áldozzatok nékik; |
| 36 mapa | But the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an out-stretched arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice. | Hanem csak az Urat tiszteljétek, õt imádjátok és néki áldozzatok, a ki titeket kihozott az Égyiptom földébõl nagy erõvel és kinyújtott karral. |
| 37 | And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods. | És õrizzétek meg az õ rendeléseit, ítéleteit, törvényét és parancsolatját, a melyeket megírt néktek, azokat cselekedvén minden idõben, és idegen isteneket ne tiszteljetek; |
| 38 | And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods. | És el ne felejtkezzetek a kötésrõl, a melyet veletek tettem, és ne tiszteljetek idegen isteneket; |
| 39 | But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. | Hanem az Urat tiszteljétek, a ti Isteneteket, és õ megszabadít titeket minden ellenségetek kezébõl. |
| 40 | Yet they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner. | De ezek nem engedelmeskedtek, hanem elõbbi szokásaik szerint cselekedtek. |
| 41 | So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they to this day. | Így tisztelték ezek a pogányok az Urat és szolgálták az õ bálványaikat, és így cselekedtek az õ fiaik és unokáik is, a mint az õ eleik cselekedtek, mind e mai napig. |
