| 3 mapa | But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said to them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us. | És monda nékik Zorobábel és Jésua és Izráel családainak többi fõi: Nem veletek együtt kell nékünk házat építeni a mi Istenünknek, hanem mi magunk fogunk építeni az Úrnak, Izráel Istenének, a miképen megparancsolta nékünk a király, Czírus, Persia királya. |
| 4 | Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, | És igyekezék e tartomány népe megkötni Júda népének kezeit és elrémíteni azt az építéstõl. |

| 9 mapa | Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dianites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites, | [Írának pedig] ekkor Rehum, a helytartó és Simsai, a kanczellár és ezeknek többi társaik: a Dineusok, Afársatakeusok, Tarpeleusok, Afárseusok, Arkeveusok, Babilóniabeliek, Susánkeusok, Dehaveusok és a Hélameusok. |

| 12 mapa | Be it known to the king, that the Jews who came from thee to us are come to Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the noxious city, and have set up its walls, and joined the foundations. | Mostan tudtára légyen a királynak, hogy ha ez a város megépíttetik s a kõfalak elkészülnek, adót, rovást és úti vámot nem fognak fizetni, s a királyok jövedelmét megkárosítják. |
| 13 | Be it known now to the king, that, if this city shall be built, and the walls set up again, then they will not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou wilt endamage the revenue of the kings. | Mostan, mivel a palota savával sózunk s épen ezért a király kárát nem illik elnéznünk, ez okért küldjük e levelet és tudatjuk a királylyal, |
| 14 | Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore have we sent and certified the king; | Hogy nézzen utána valaki atyáid történeteinek könyvében, és meg fogod találni a történetek könyvében, és megtudod, hogy e város visszavonó és királyokat és tartományokat megkárosító város volt, s hogy eleitõl fogva lázadások történtek abban, ezért pusztíttatott is el e város. |
| 15 | That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so wilt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed. | A levél, melyet hozzánk küldtetek, világosan felolvastatott elõttem; |
| 16 mapa | We certify the king that, if this city shall be built again, and its walls set up, by this means thou wilt have no portion on this side of the river. | És megparancsolám, hogy nézzenek utána, és úgy találák, hogy ez a város eleitõl fogva királyok ellen támadó volt, és hogy pártütés és lázadás történt vala benne; |
| 17 mapa | Then the king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and to the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time. | És hogy hatalmas királyok voltak Jeruzsálemben és uralkodtak minden a folyóvizen túl lakókon, és adó, rovás és úti vám fizettetett nékik. |
| 18 | The letter which ye sent to us hath been plainly read before me. | Mostan azért parancsoljátok meg, hogy akadályozzák meg a férfiakat, s e város ne építtessék addig, míg tõlem parancsolat nem jövend; |
| 19 | And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made in it. | Mihelyt Artaxerxes király levelének mássa felolvastaték Rehum és Simsai, a kanczellár és társaik elõtt, menének nagy hamarsággal Jeruzsálembe a zsidókhoz, és megakadályozák õket erõvel és hatalommal. |
| 20 mapa | There have also been mighty kings over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid to them. | Akkor megszünék az Úr házának építése, mely Jeruzsálemben van, és szünetelt Dárius, Persia királya uralkodásának második esztendejéig. |
| 21 | Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not built, until another commandment shall be given from me. | |
| 22 | Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings? | |
| 23 mapa | Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power. | |
| 24 mapa | Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia. |
