Fruto do Espírito
O fruto do Espírito inclui domínio próprio.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, self-control: against such things there is no law.
For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared, teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things, awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of wise discretion.
But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge, in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness, in godliness brotherly love, in brotherly love love:
Governar a si mesmo
Melhor é o que domina o seu espírito do que o que toma uma cidade. A cidade sem muros é o homem sem domínio próprio.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is as a city broken down, without walls.
A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise man keepeth it back.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.
Know ye not that they who run in the race-course run all, but one receives the prize? Thus run in order that ye may obtain. But every one that contends for a prize is temperate in all things: they then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. I therefore thus run, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beating the air. But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest after having preached to others I should be myself rejected.
But if they have not control over themselves, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.
No temptation has taken you but such as is according to man’s nature; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able to bear, but will with the temptation make the issue also, so that yeshould be able to bear it.
Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which is in the world.
But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;
Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, do ye also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in the flesh has done with sin, no longer to live the rest of his time in the flesh to men’s lusts, but to God’s will. For the time past is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.
Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously of you; who shall render account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour, (not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,)
Bless Jehovah, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless Jehovah, O my soul!
Thy kingdom is a kingdom of all ages, and thy dominion is throughout all generations.
I saw in the night visions, and behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like a son of man, and he came up even to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
It hath seemed good unto me to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God hath wrought toward me. How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty ·God Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with judgment and with righteousness, from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
who has delivered us from the authority of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love: in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins;
in which he wrought in the Christ in raising him from among the dead, and he set him down at his right hand in the heavenlies, above every principality, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name named, not only in this age, but also in that to come;
for our commonwealth has its existence in the heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of the power which he has even to subdue all things to himself.
knowing that Christ having been raised up from among the dead dies no more: death has dominion over him no more.
and they that are in flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed God’s Spirit dwell in you; but if any one has not the Spirit of Christ he is not of him:
For as in the Adam all die, thus also in the Christ all shall be made alive. But each in his own rank: the first-fruits, Christ; then those that are the Christ’s at his coming. Then the end, when he gives up the kingdom to him who is God and Father; when he shall have annulled all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he put all enemies under his feet.
Dominion and fear are with him; he maketh peace in his high places.
