Honrar os pais
Honrar pai e mãe é mandamento de Deus com promessa de vida longa e feliz. A Bíblia ensina que respeitar, obedecer e cuidar dos pais é dever sagrado dos filhos.
O mandamento com promessa
Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe para que vá bem contigo e vivas muito tempo sobre a terra. É o primeiro mandamento com promessa.
12 Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which LORD thy God gives thee.
16 Honor thy father and thy mother, as LORD thy God commanded thee, that thy days may be long, and that it may go well with thee in the land which LORD thy God gives thee.
2 Honor thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise,3 so that it may become well with thee, and thou will be long lasting on the earth.

Obedecer e respeitar
Filhos, obedecei a vossos pais no Senhor. Ouvir a instrução do pai e não desprezar o ensino da mãe traz sabedoria.

Consequências da desonra
A Bíblia adverte severamente contra a desonra aos pais. Quem amaldiçoa ou agride os pais enfrenta consequências sérias.
26 He who does violence to his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame and brings reproach.
20 He who curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
17 The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
17 And he who curses his father or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, impious,3 devoid of natural affection, irreconcilable, slanderous, without self-control, savage, no lovers of good,
Cuidar dos pais
Quem não cuida dos seus, principalmente de sua família, negou a fé. Honrar os pais inclui respeitar os idosos.
4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to be devoted to their own house, and to give back recompense to their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
8 But if any man does not provide for his own, and especially those belonging his household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
3 Every man shall fear his mother, and his father. And ye shall keep my Sabbaths. I am LORD your God.
32 Thou shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and thou shall fear thy God. I am LORD.
