21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Those who love it will eat the fruit.

2 We all stumble in many things. If any do not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able to restrain control the whole body.

3 We put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us. We guide their whole bodies.4 Look at ships. They are large and are driven by rough winds. Yet a very small rudder can control them, wherever the captain wills.5 The tongue also is a little member. It boasts great things. Consider how great a forest fire a small fire kindles!6 The tongue is like fire, the place of iniquity among our members. It defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of our life. It is set ablaze like the ever-burning fires in the Valley of Hinnom Greek: Gehenna: symbolic of total destruction.

7 Every kind of beast and bird, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil. It is full of deadly poison.

9 We bless Jehovah, the Father, with it. (Psalm 34:1) Then we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God.10 Blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth! My brothers, these things should not be.11 Does the fountain send forth from the same opening sweet water and bitter?12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine produce figs? Neither can salt water yield sweet.

15 A ruler is persuaded by patience, and a soft tongue breaks the bone.

18 There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword. The tongue of the wise brings a cure.

19 The lip of truth will be established forever. A lying tongue is only for a moment.

19 Sin does not hide from a multitude of words. The wise controls his lips.

28 Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise! He who shuts his mouth is esteemed a man of understanding.

26 If any man thinks he is religious, while he does not control his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain worthlessuseless.

1 I said: »I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue. I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle while the wicked are in my presence.«

12 Which of you wants a full life? Who would like to live long enough to enjoy good things?13 Keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from deceit.

30 The mouth of the righteous reflects on wisdom. His tongue speaks what is fair.31 The law of his God is in his heart. His steps do not waver slip.

28 My tongue will declare your righteousness and your praise all day long.

4 Even before I speak words from my tongue, behold, O Jehovah, You know it all.

2 O Jehovah, rescue me from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue.

3 Jehovah will destroy every flattering lip and every bragging tongue4 They say: »We will overcome with our tongues. With lips such as ours, who can be our master?«

9 Confuse their language, O Jehovah, because I see violence and conflict in the city.

9 For this reason God highly exalted him, and gave to him the name that is above every name, Relative authority given by Jehovah God, the Father to His Son (Philipians 2:11)10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth,11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and do not have love, I have become like loud sounding brass, or a clashing cymbal.

36 »I tell you there will be an account in the Judgment Day for every careless word that men say.37 »For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.«

5 But Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.6 Jehovah said: »If they become one people speaking the same language, nothing will be impossible for them. They have begun to do this.7 »Let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.«8 Jehovah scattered them from there over all the earth. They stopped building the city.9 That is why it was called Babel confusion because Jehovah confused the language of the whole world. Jehovah scattered them from there over the face of the whole earth.
