O nascimento do Salvador
O anjo anunciou: hoje vos nasceu um Salvador, que é Cristo, o Senhor! A virgem concebeu pelo Espírito Santo e deu à luz o Filho de Deus.
10 The angel spoke to them: »Do not be afraid. Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy to all the people.
11 »Christ Messiah the Lord, a Savior, is born this day in the city of David.
4 Joseph came from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea to be counted and taxed. He went to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David.5 He registered himself with Mary, who was engaged to him. She was about to become a mother.
6 While they were there the time came for Mary to give birth.7 She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger. That was because there was no room for them in the inn.
A profecia cumprida
Isaías profetizou: a virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho que se chamará Emanuel. Em Jesus, essa promessa se cumpriu perfeitamente.
14 Therefore Jehovah will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel God with us.
20 Joseph had this in mind when Gods angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel said to him: »Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. She is pregnant by Holy Spirit.
21 »She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus »Jehovah is salvation« , because he will save his people from their sins.«
22 All this happened so that what God spoke through the prophet came true:23 »The virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel,« which means: »God God-like one is with us.« (John 1:18)
