10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Jehovah and wept with weeping.

11 And she vowed a vow and said, O Jehovah of Hosts, if You will look to see the affliction of Your handmaid and remember me, and not forget Your handmaid, but will give Your handmaid a male child, then I shall give him unto Jehovah all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.

12 And it happened, as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli was watching her mouth.

13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.

14 So Eli said to her, How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you!

15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of intense spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before Jehovah.

16 Do not consider your handmaid for a daughter of worthlessness, for out of the abundance of my anxiety and vexation I have spoken until now.

17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.

18 And she said, Let your handmaid find favor in your eyes. So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.

19 And they arose early in the morning and bowed down before Jehovah, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and Jehovah remembered her.

20 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked for him from Jehovah.

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.

42 So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,

43 and said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. So he went up and looked, and said, There is nothing. And seven times he said, Go back.

44 And it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there is a cloud, as small as a mans hand, rising out of the sea! So he said, Go up, say to Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.

45 And it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.

Jesus e a oração no Getsêmani

36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, Sit here while I go and pray over there.

37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and in extreme anguish.

38 And He said to them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death. Stay here and watch with Me.

39 And He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

40 And He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, What? Were you not able to watch with Me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that you not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.

43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, Sleep on and rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being delivered into the hands of sinners.

46 Arise, let us be going. Behold, My betrayer is at hand.
