Orgulho
O orgulho é um dos pecados mais condenados na Bíblia. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira.
Deus resiste ao soberbo
A soberba precede a ruína e o orgulho antecede a queda. Deus abomina o coração altivo e promete humilhar quem se exalta.
Humildade como caminho
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. A grandeza no Reino vem pelo serviço humilde, não pela autopromoção.
6 But he gives more and more grace. therefore it is said, God ever resists the proud; but to the humble he gives grace continually.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, And he will raise you up.
9 Let a brother in humble circumstances glory in his exaltation;10 but a rich brother, in his humiliation; because like the flower of the grass the rich man will pass away.
5 You younger men must submit to the presbyters; and all of you must put on the garment of humility and serve one another, for God resists the haughty, But gives grace to the humble.6 So humble yourselves under Gods mighty hand, so that he may exalt you in due time.7 Cast all your care upon him, for he ever cares for you.
11 "For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
3 Do nothing out of strife, nothing out of vanity, but let each one in true humility consider the others to be of more account than himself.4 Let each have an eye not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
Os perigos do orgulho
O orgulho cega, gera contendas e afasta de Deus. A Escritura adverte contra a soberba da vida e a vã glória mundana.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the proud glory of life, is not from the Father, but from the world;
12 So then let him who imagines that he is standing so securely beware lest he fall.
3 And though I sell all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it avails me nothing.
28 The worlds base things has God chosen, and the things that are not, to bring to naught the things that are;29 so that no mortal man should glory in his presence.
17 Meanwhile. Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.18 For a man is proved worthy, not by his self-commendation, but when he is commended by the Lord.
20 "What comes out of a man," he continued, "is what defiles him.21 From within, from the heart of man, proceed evil purposes -22 fornication, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, wantonness, envy, slander, arrogance, reckless folly -23 all these wicked things issue from within and defile a man."
17 Charge the rich of this world not to be supercilious, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in God, who provides all things richly for our use.
O olhar de Deus
O Senhor não olha como o homem. Ele vê o coração e se agrada dos quebrantados de espírito e dos que tremem diante da sua Palavra.
16 Have full sympathy with one another. Set not your minds on high affairs, but associate with lowly folk. Do not be wise in your own conceits.
22 But the harvest-fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long- suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, gentleness, and self-control;23 against such there is no law.
