Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 But they who are of the Meshiha have crucified their flesh, with all its passions and its lusts:
5 Put to death, then, your members that are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, and passions, and evil desires, and covetousness, which itself is idolatry.
11 MY beloved, I beseech you as strangers and as sojourners, be separate from all the lusts of the body which make wars against the soul.
4 and that every man of you know to possess his vessel in sanctification and in honour,5 and not in the passions of concupiscence, as the rest of the Gentiles who know not Aloha.
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of Aloha.
9 Yet, if they persevere not, they should marry; for it is better to take a wife than to burn with concupiscence.
26 WHEREFORE Aloha delivered them up to passions of vileness: for their females changed the use of their nature, and to what is not natural were used.27 And also their males likewise left the natural use of their females, and were inflamed with concupiscence one with another, and male with male wrought shamefulness, and the just retribution for their perverseness in themselves received.
3 For the time will come, when sound doctrine they will not hear; but according to their desires will multiply to themselves teachers, in the itching of their hearing.4 And from the truth they will turn away their ear, but to fables will decline.
3 you ask and receive not, because you ask wickedly, as that you may cherish your lusts.
