Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and appetites.
5 So slay your baser inclinations. fornication, impurity, appetite, unnatural desires, and the greed which is idolatry.
11 I beseech you, beloved, as pilgrims and exiles, to abstain from passions of the flesh that war upon your souls.
4 That each one should learn how to take a wife in purity and honor.5 Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles who know not God.
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Because whether you are eating or whether you are drinking, you are to do it all for the glory of God.
9 If, however, they are not exercising self-control, by all means let them marry; for marriage is better than the fever of passion.
26 That is why God has given them up to passions of dishonor; for on the one hand their women actually changed the natural function of sex into that which is against nature;27 and on the other hand their men likewise abandoned the natural use of women, and were ablaze with passion for one another; men with men practising shameless acts and receiving in their own person that recompense of their wrong-doing which necessarily followed.
3 For a time will come when they will not listen to wholesome teaching, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will heap up for themselves teachers upon teachers to satisfy their own fancies.4 They will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to myths.
3 You continue to ask and do not receive, because you are asking with a wrong purpose, in order to spend it upon your pleasures.
