Paixão
A Bíblia nos chama a dominar as paixões e desejos da carne. O cristão é chamado a viver pelo Espírito, crucificando as obras da carne e buscando a santidade em tudo.
Crucificar a carne
Os que são de Cristo crucificaram a carne com suas paixões e concupiscências. O domínio próprio é fruto do Espírito Santo.
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have impaled the flesh with its passions and lusts.
5 Make your members that are upon the earth dead with regard to fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness greed, which is idolatry.
11 Beloved, I request that you as aliens and strangers abstain from fleshly lust desires, which causes conflict in you.
4 Every one of you should know how to possess his own vessel in holiness and honor,5 not in the lust of sexual desire like the nations who do not know God.
Tudo para a glória de Deus
Quer comamos, quer bebamos, tudo deve ser feito para a glória de Deus. Devemos fugir das paixões que guerreiam contra a alma.
31 Whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do everything to the glory of God.
9 But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry. It is better to marry than to be inflamed with lust.
26 For this cause God gave them up to vile affections for even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature.27 Also the men left the natural use of the woman and burned in their lust, one toward another; men with men working that which is obscene. They receive full recompense due for their error.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine. Having their ears tickled, they will accumulate teachers who follow after their own lusts.4 They will turn their ears away from the truth, and turn aside to myths fiction.
3 You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly with bad motives that you may spend it on your pleasures.
