3 Blessed be  * the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies  * and the God of all comfort.  *4 He comforts us in all our affliction,  * so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer.  *7 And our hope  * for you is firm, because we know that as you share  * in the sufferings, so you will also share in the comfort.

5 Then the one seated on the throne said, "Look, I am making everything new." He also said, "Write, because these words  * are faithful and true."  *

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe  * so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  *

2 Do not be conformed  * to this age,  * but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  * so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will  * of God.

to proclaim liberty to the captives

and freedom to the prisoners;  *

2 to proclaim the year of the  Lord’s favor,  *

and the day of our God’s vengeance;  *

to comfort  * all who mourn,

3 to provide for those who mourn in Zion;

to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,

festive oil instead of mourning,  *

and splendid clothes instead of despair.  *

And they will be called righteous trees,

planted by the  Lord

to glorify him.  *

so I will comfort you,  *

and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.

8 The Lord is the one who will go before you.  * He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.  * Do not be afraid or discouraged."

5 Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you.*,*

a stronghold in a day of distress;

he cares for those who take refuge  * in him.

He will rejoice over you  * with gladness.

11 For I know the plans I have for you"  *  — this is the Lord’s declaration — "plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;  * the old has passed away, and see,  * the new has  * come!  *

19 So then, let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust themselves  * to a faithful Creator while doing what is good.

6 Humble  * yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand  * of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.  *

your rod and your staff — they comfort me.  *

it is what I desire:

to dwell in the house of the  Lord

all the days of my life,  *

gazing on the beauty of the  Lord*

and seeking him in his temple.  *

5 For he will conceal me in his shelter

in the day of adversity;

he will hide me under the cover of his tent;

he will set me high on a rock.  *

50 This is my comfort in my affliction:  *

Your promise has given me life.

29 "Truly I tell you,"* Jesus said, "there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father*or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel,*30 who will not receive a hundred times*more, now at this time*— houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions*— and eternal life*in the age to come.*

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor*,*to be with you forever.17 He is the Spirit*of truth.*The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be*in you.*

18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.
