18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and scholars. And they will condemn him to death,19 and will deliver him to the Gentiles to ridicule, and to scourge, and to crucify. And the third day he will rise.

28 And having stripped him, they put a scarlet robe on him.29 And having woven a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And having knelt down before him, they ridiculed him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews!
