Seguir a Jesus é o convite mais transformador da Bíblia. Jesus chamou pescadores, cobradores de impostos e pessoas comuns para deixar tudo e segui-lo. Esse chamado continua vivo hoje.
O chamado de Jesus
Jesus disse: 'Segue-me'. Esse convite simples e poderoso mudou a vida de pescadores, publicanos e pessoas comuns ao longo da história.
19 And He says to them, Come after Me, and I will make you fishers of men.20 And they immediately left their nets and followed Him.
9 And as Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, Follow Me. So he arose and followed Him.
43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, Follow Me.
57 And it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.58 And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.59 And He said to another, Follow Me. But he said, Lord, let me first go and bury my father.60 Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid farewell to those who are at my house.62 But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
O custo do discipulado
Seguir a Jesus exige renúncia. É preciso tomar a cruz diariamente, deixar tudo para trás e amar a Cristo acima de qualquer outro vínculo.
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
26 If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
28 Then Peter began to say to Him, Behold, we have left everything and followed You.29 So Jesus answered and said, Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, on account of Me and the gospel,30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time; houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
Caminhar com Cristo
Quem segue a Jesus não anda em trevas, mas tem a luz da vida. Ele nos convida a crescer nele e a servir como Ele serviu.
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.
26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:22 Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth;23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but gave Himself over to Him who judges righteously;
15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ,
4 You shall do My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am Jehovah your God.
