8 Resolveu Daniel, firmemente, não contaminar-se com as finas iguarias do rei, nem com o vinho que ele bebia; então, pediu ao chefe dos eunucos que lhe permitisse não contaminar-se. 16 Com isto, o cozinheiro-chefe tirou deles as finas iguarias e o vinho que deviam beber e lhes dava legumes.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
16 So the steward took away their dainties, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse.
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.
16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
