1 اطلب الى الشيوخ الذين بينكم انا الشيخ رفيقهم والشاهد لآلام المسيح وشريك المجد العتيد ان يعلن2 ارعوا رعية الله التي بينكم نظّارا لا عن اضطرار بل بالاختيار ولا لربح قبيح بل بنشاط.3 ولا كمن يسود على الانصبة بل صائرين امثلة للرعية4 ومتى ظهر رئيس الرعاة تنالون اكليل المجد الذي لا يبلى5 كذلك ايها الاحداث اخضعوا للشيوخ وكونوا جميعا خاضعين بعضكم لبعض وتسربلوا بالتواضع لان الله يقاوم المستكبرين واما المتواضعون فيعطيهم نعمة.6 فتواضعوا تحت يد الله القوية لكي يرفعكم في حينه7 ملقين كل همكم عليه لانه هو يعتني بكم8 اصحوا واسهروا لان ابليس خصمكم كأسد زائر يجول ملتمسا من يبتلعه هو.9 فقاوموه راسخين في الايمان عالمين ان نفس هذه الآلام تجرى على اخوتكم الذين في العالم10 واله كل نعمة الذي دعانا الى مجده الابدي في المسيح يسوع بعدما تألمتم يسيرا هو يكملكم ويثبتكم ويقويكم ويمكنكم11 له المجد والسلطان الى ابد الآبدين. آمين12 بيد سلوانس الاخ الامين كما اظن كتبت اليكم بكلمات قليلة واعظا وشاهدا ان هذه هي نعمة الله الحقيقية التي فيها تقومون.13 تسلم عليكم التي في بابل المختارة معكم ومرقس ابني.14 سلموا بعضكم على بعض بقبلة المحبة. سلام لكم جميعكم الذين في المسيح يسوع. آمين

1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;3 Neither as being lords over God' heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.5 Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:7 Casting all your care on him; for he cares for you.8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brothers that are in the world.10 But the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever.
