1 And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord Jehovah fell there upon me. 2 Then I beheld, and, lo, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of his loins and downward, fire; and from his loins and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as it were glowing metal. 3 And he put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy. 4 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the plain.

5 Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold, northward of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. 6 And he said unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel do commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But thou shalt again see yet other great abominations.

7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall. 8 Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold, a door. 9 And he said unto me, Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here. 10 So I went in and saw; and behold, every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about. 11 And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel; and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, every man with his censer in his hand; and the odor of the cloud of incense went up. 12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his chambers of imagery? for they say, Jehovah seeth us not; Jehovah hath forsaken the land. 13 He said also unto me, Thou shalt again see yet other great abominations which they do.

14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Jehovah’s house which was toward the north; and behold, there sat the women weeping for Tammuz. 15 Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? thou shalt again see yet greater abominations than these.

16 And he brought me into the inner court of Jehovah’s house; and behold, at the door of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of Jehovah, and their faces toward the east; and they were worshipping the sun toward the east. 17 Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. 18 Therefore will I also deal in wrath; mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

Duhul m-a răpit*Cap. 3:15. între pământ și cer și m-a*Cap. 11:1,24;40:2. dus, în vedenii dumnezeiești, la Ierusalim, la ușa porții de la curtea dinăuntru, care caută spre miazănoapte, unde era locul*Ier. 7:30;32:34. Cap. 5:11. idolului geloziei, care stârnea*Deut. 32:16,21. gelozia Domnului. 4 Și iată că slava Dumnezeului lui Israel era acolo, așa cum o văzusem*Cap. 1:28;3:22,23. în vale. 5 El mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, ia ridică ochii spre miazănoapte!" Am ridicat ochii spre miazănoapte; iată că idolul acesta al geloziei era la miazănoapte de poarta altarului, la intrare. 6 Și El mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, vezi ce fac ei? Vezi tu marile urâciuni pe care le săvârșește aici casa lui Israel, ca să Mă depărteze de Sfântul Meu Locaș? Dar vei mai vedea și alte urâciuni și mai mari!" 7 Atunci m-a dus la poarta curții. M-am uitat și iată că era o gaură în perete! 8 Și mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, ia sapă în perete!" Am săpat în zid și iată că era o ușă. 9 Și mi-a zis: „Intră și vezi urâciunile cele rele pe care le săvârșesc ei aici!" 10 Am intrat și m-am uitat; și iată că erau tot felul de chipuri de târâtoare și de dobitoace urâcioase și toți idolii casei lui Israel zugrăviți pe perete de jur împrejur. 11 Înaintea acestor idoli stăteau șaptezeci de oameni din bătrânii casei lui Israel, în mijlocul cărora era Iaazania, fiul lui Șafan; fiecare din ei avea o cădelniță în mână și se înălța un nor gros de tămâie. 12 Și El mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, vezi ce fac în întuneric bătrânii casei lui Israel, fiecare în odaia lui plină de chipuri? Căci ei zic: ‘Nu ne vede*Cap. 9:9. Domnul; a părăsit Domnul țara aceasta!’" 13 Și mi-a zis: „Vei mai vedea și alte urâciuni mari pe care le săvârșesc ei!" 14 Și m-a dus la intrarea porții Casei Domnului dinspre miazănoapte. Și iată că acolo stăteau niște femei care plângeau pe Tamuz. 15 Și El mi-a zis: „Vezi, fiul omului? Vei mai vedea și alte urâciuni mai mari decât acestea!" 16 Și m-a dus în curtea dinăuntru a Casei Domnului. Și iată că, la ușa Templului Domnului, între pridvor*Ioel 2:17. și altar, erau aproape douăzeci și cinci*Cap. 11:1. de oameni cu dosul*Ier. 2:27;32:33. întors spre Templul Domnului și cu fața spre răsărit și se închinau înaintea soarelui*Deut. 4:19.2 Împ. 23:5,11.Iov 31:26.Ier. 44:17., spre răsărit. 17 Și El mi-a zis: „Vezi, fiul omului? Este prea puțin oare pentru casa lui Iuda că săvârșesc ei urâciunile pe care le săvârșesc aici? Trebuia să mai umple și țara cu silnicie*Cap. 9:9. și să nu înceteze să Mă mânie? Iată că ei își apropie ramura de nas! 18 De aceea*Cap. 5:13;16:42;24:13. și Eu voi lucra cu urgie, ochiul Meu*Cap. 5:11;7:4,9;9:5,10. va fi fără milă și nu Mă voi îndura; chiar dacă vor striga*Prov. 1:28.Is. 1:15.Ier. 11:11;14:12.Mica 3:4.Zah. 7:13. în gura mare la urechile Mele, tot nu-i voi asculta."
