1 At that season Jesus went on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples were hungry and began to pluck ears and to eat. 2 But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do upon the sabbath. 3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; 4 how he entered into the house of God, and ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them that were with him, but only for the priests? 5 Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are guiltless? 6 But I say unto you, that one greater than the temple is here. 7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.

9 And he departed thence, and went into their synagogue: 10 and behold, a man having a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be of you, that shall have one sheep, and if this fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man of more value than a sheep! Wherefore it is lawful to do good on the sabbath day. 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, as the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out, and took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.

15 And Jesus perceiving it withdrew from thence: and many followed him; and he healed them all, 16 and charged them that they should not make him known: 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

18 Behold, my servant whom I have chosen;

My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased:

I will put my Spirit upon him,

And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles.

19 He shall not strive, nor cry aloud;

Neither shall any one hear his voice in the streets.

20 A bruised reed shall he not break,

And smoking flax shall he not quench,

Till he send forth judgment unto victory.

21 And in his name shall the Gentiles hope.

22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the dumb man spake and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Can this be the son of David? 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons. 25 And knowing their thoughts he said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26 and if Satan casteth out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. 30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. 31 Therefore I say unto you, Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come. 33 Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

38 Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, Teacher, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet: 40 for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. 42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 43 But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and findeth it not. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this evil generation.

46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him. 47 And one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, seeking to speak to thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Ucenicii Lui, care erau flămânzi, au început să smulgă spice de grâu și să le mănânce. 2 Fariseii, când au văzut lucrul acesta, I-au zis: „Uite că ucenicii Tăi fac ce nu este îngăduit să facă în ziua Sabatului." 3 Dar Isus le-a răspuns: „Oare n-ați citit ce*1 Sam. 21:6.a făcut David când a flămânzit, el și cei ce erau împreună cu el?4 Cum a intrat în Casa lui Dumnezeu și a mâncat pâinile*Exod 25:30.Lev. 24:5.pentru punerea înaintea Domnului, pe care nu-i era îngăduit să le mănânce nici lui, nici celor ce erau cu el, ci*Exod 29:32,33.Lev. 8:31;24:9.numai preoților?5 Sau n-ați citit în Lege*Num. 28:9.Ioan 7:22.că, în zilele de Sabat, preoții calcă Sabatul în Templu, și totuși sunt nevinovați?6 Dar Eu vă spun că aici este Unul*2 Cron. 6:18.Mal. 3:1.mai mare decât Templul.7 Dacă ați fi știut ce înseamnă: ‘Milă*Osea 6:6.Mica 6:6-8. Cap. 9:13.voiesc, iar nu jertfe’, n-ați fi osândit pe niște nevinovați.8 Căci Fiul omului este Domn și al Sabatului."

9 Isus*Marcu 3:1.Luca 6:6. a plecat de acolo și a intrat în sinagogă. 10 Și iată că în sinagogă era un om care avea o mână uscată. Ei, ca să poată învinui pe Isus, L-au întrebat: „Este îngăduit*Luca 13:14;14:3.Ioan 9:16. a vindeca în zilele de Sabat?" 11 El le-a răspuns: „Cine este omul acela dintre voi care, dacă are o oaie și-i*Exod 23:4,5.Deut. 22:4.cade într-o groapă în ziua Sabatului, să n-o apuce și s-o scoată afară?12 Cu cât mai de preț este deci un om decât o oaie? De aceea este îngăduit a face bine în zilele de Sabat."13 Atunci a zis omului aceluia: „Întinde-ți mâna!" El a întins-o și mâna s-a făcut sănătoasă, ca și cealaltă. 14 Fariseii*Cap. 27:1.Marcu 3:6.Luca 6:11.Ioan 5:18;10:39;11:53. au ieșit afară și s-au sfătuit cum să omoare pe Isus.

15 Dar Isus, ca unul care știa lucrul acesta, a*Cap. 10:23.Marcu 3:7. plecat de acolo. După*Cap. 19:2. El au mers multe noroade. El a tămăduit pe toți bolnavii 16 și le-a poruncit*Cap. 9:30. cu tot dinadinsul să nu-L facă cunoscut, 17 ca să se împlinească ce fusese vestit prin prorocul Isaia, care zice: 18 „Iată*Is. 42:1. Robul Meu, pe care L-am ales, Preaiubitul Meu, în*Cap. 3:17;17:5. care sufletul Meu își găsește plăcerea. Voi pune Duhul Meu peste El și va vesti neamurilor judecata. 19 El nu Se va lua la ceartă, nici nu va striga. Și nimeni nu-I va auzi glasul pe ulițe. 20 Nu va frânge o trestie ruptă și nici nu va stinge un fitil care fumegă, până va face să biruiască judecata. 21 Și neamurile vor nădăjdui în Numele Lui."

22 Atunci*Cap. 9:32.Marcu 3:11.Luca 11:14., I-au adus un îndrăcit orb și mut și Isus l-a tămăduit, așa că mutul vorbea și vedea. 23 Toate noroadele, mirate, ziceau: „Nu cumva este acesta Fiul lui David?" 24 Când*Cap. 9:34.Marcu 3:22.Luca 11:15. au auzit fariseii lucrul acesta, au zis: „Omul acesta nu scoate dracii decât cu Beelzebul, domnul dracilor!" 25 Isus, care le cunoștea*Cap. 9:4.Ioan 2:25.Apoc. 2:23. gândurile, le-a zis: „Orice împărăție dezbinată împotriva ei însăși este pustiită și orice cetate sau casă dezbinată împotriva ei însăși nu poate dăinui.26 Dacă Satana scoate pe Satana, este dezbinat; deci cum poate dăinui împărăția lui?27 Și dacă Eu scot afară dracii cu ajutorul lui Beelzebul, fiii voștri cu cine-i scot? De aceea, ei vor fi judecătorii voștri.28 Dar dacă Eu scot afară dracii cu Duhul lui Dumnezeu, atunci Împărăția*Dan. 2:44;7:14.Luca 1:33;11:20;17:20,21.lui Dumnezeu a venit peste voi.29 Sau*Is. 49:24.Luca 11:21-23.cum poate cineva să intre în casa celui tare și să-i jefuiască gospodăria, dacă n-a legat mai întâi pe cel tare? 38 Atunci*Cap. 16:1.Marcu 8:11.Luca 11:16,29.Ioan 2:18.1 Cor. 1:22., unii din cărturari și din farisei au luat cuvântul și I-au zis: „Învățătorule, am vrea să vedem un semn de la Tine!" 39 Drept răspuns, El le-a zis: „Un neam viclean și preacurvar*Is. 57:3. Cap. 16:4.Marcu 8:38.Ioan 4:48.cere un semn, dar nu i se va da alt semn decât semnul prorocului Iona.40 Căci*Iona 1:17., după cum Iona a stat trei zile și trei nopți în pântecele chitului, tot așa și Fiul omului va sta trei zile și trei nopți în inima pământului.41 Bărbații*Luca 11:32.din Ninive se vor scula alături de neamul acesta în ziua judecății și-l*Ier. 3:11.Ezec. 16:51,52.Rom. 2:27.vor osândi, pentru că*Iona 3:5.ei s-au pocăit la propovăduirea lui Iona; și iată că aici este Unul mai mare decât Iona.42 Împărăteasa*1 Împ. 10:1.2 Cron. 9:1.Luca 11:31.de la Miazăzi se va scula alături de neamul acesta în ziua judecății și-l va osândi, pentru că ea a venit de la marginile pământului ca să audă înțelepciunea lui Solomon; și iată că aici este Unul mai mare decât Solomon.43 Duhul*Luca 11:24.necurat, când a ieșit dintr-un om, umblă*Iov 1:7.1 Pet. 5:8.prin locuri fără apă, căutând odihnă și n-o găsește.44 Atunci zice: ‘Mă voi întoarce în casa mea, de unde am ieșit.’ Și, când vine în ea, o găsește goală, măturată și împodobită.45 Atunci se duce și ia cu el alte șapte duhuri mai rele decât el: intră în casă, locuiesc acolo, și*Evr. 6:4;10:26.2 Pet. 2:20-22.starea din urmă a omului acestuia ajunge mai rea decât cea dintâi. Tocmai așa se va întâmpla și cu acest neam viclean."

46 Pe când vorbea încă Isus noroadelor, iată*Marcu 3:31.Luca 8:19-21. că mama și frații Lui stăteau afară și căutau să vorbească cu El. 47 Atunci, cineva I-a zis: „Iată, mama Ta și frații*Cap. 13:55.Marcu 6:3.Ioan 2:12;7:3,5.Fapte 1:14.1 Cor. 9:5.Gal. 1:19. Tăi stau afară și caută să vorbească cu Tine." 48 Dar Isus a răspuns celui ce-I adusese știrea aceasta: „Cine este mama Mea și care sunt frații Mei?"49 Apoi, Și-a întins mâna spre ucenicii Săi și a zis: „Iată mama Mea și frații Mei!50 Căci oricine*Ioan 15:14.Gal. 5:6;6:15.Col. 3:11.Evr. 2:11.face voia Tatălui Meu care este în ceruri, acela Îmi este frate, soră și mamă."
