1 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart: 2 and he was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun, and his garments became white as the light. 3 And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with him. 4 And Peter answered, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, I will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. 5 While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, save Jesus only.

9 And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen from the dead. 10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come? 11 And he answered and said, Elijah indeed cometh, and shall restore all things: 12 but I say unto you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but did unto him whatsoever they would. Even so shall the Son of man also suffer of them. 13 Then understood the disciples that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously; for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and oft-times into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour.

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out? 20 And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 *17:21 Many authorities, some ancient, insert v. 21. 22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men; 23 and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were exceeding sorry.

24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel? 25 He saith, Yea. And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers? 26 And when he said, From strangers, Jesus said unto him, Therefore the sons are free. 27 But, lest we cause them to stumble, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

El să ascultați!" 6 Când*2 Pet. 1:18. au auzit, ucenicii au căzut cu fețele la pământ și s-au înspăimântat foarte tare. 7 Dar Isus S-a apropiat, S-a*Dan. 8:18;9:21;10:10,18. atins de ei și le-a zis: „Sculați-vă, nu vă temeți!"8 Ei au ridicat ochii și n-au văzut pe nimeni, decât pe Isus singur. 9 Pe când coborau din munte, Isus*Cap. 16:20.Marcu 8:30;9:9. le-a dat porunca următoare: „Să nu spuneți nimănui de vedenia aceasta până va învia Fiul omului din morți."10 Ucenicii I-au pus întrebarea următoare: „Oare*Mal. 4:5. Cap. 11:14.Marcu 9:11. de ce zic cărturarii că întâi trebuie să vină Ilie?" 11 Drept răspuns, Isus le-a zis: „Este adevărat că trebuie să vină întâi Ilie și să așeze*Mal. 4:6.Luca 1:16,17.Fapte 3:21.din nou toate lucrurile.12 Dar*Cap. 11:14.Marcu 9:12,13.vă spun că Ilie a și venit, și ei nu l-au cunoscut, ci au*Cap. 15:3,10.făcut cu el ce au vrut. Tot așa are să sufere și*Cap. 16:21.Fiul omului din partea lor."13 Ucenicii au înțeles atunci*Cap. 11:14. că le vorbise despre Ioan Botezătorul.

14 Când*Marcu 9:14.Luca 9:37. au ajuns la norod, a venit un om care a căzut în genunchi înaintea lui Isus și I-a zis: 15 „Doamne, ai milă de fiul meu, căci este lunatic și pătimește rău: de multe ori cade în foc și de multe ori cade în apă. 16 L-am adus la ucenicii Tăi și n-au putut să-l vindece." 17 „O, neam necredincios și pornit la rău!", a răspuns Isus. „Până când voi fi cu voi? Până când vă voi suferi? Aduceți-l aici, la Mine."18 Isus a certat dracul, care a ieșit din el. Și băiatul s-a tămăduit chiar în ceasul acela. 19 Atunci, ucenicii au venit la Isus și I-au zis deoparte: „Noi de ce n-am putut să-l scoatem?" 20 „Din pricina puținei voastre credințe", le-a zis Isus. „Adevărat vă spun că, dacă*Cap. 21:21.Marcu 11:23.Luca 17:6.1 Cor. 12:9;13:2.ați avea credință cât un grăunte de muștar, ați zice muntelui acestuia: ‘Mută-te de aici colo’, și s-ar muta; nimic nu v-ar fi cu neputință.21 Dar acest soi de draci nu iese afară decât cu rugăciune și cu post."

22 Pe*Cap. 16:21;20:17.Marcu 8:31;9:30,31;10:33.Luca 9:22,44;18:31;24:6,7. când stăteau în Galileea, Isus le-a zis: „Fiul omului trebuie să fie dat în mâinile oamenilor.23 Ei Îl vor omorî, dar a treia zi va învia." Ucenicii s-au întristat foarte mult.

24 Când au ajuns*Marcu 9:33. în Capernaum, cei ce strângeau darea pentru Templu*17:24 Grecește: cele două drahme. au venit la Petru și i-au zis: „Învățătorul vostru nu plătește darea?" 25 „Ba da", a zis Petru. Și când a intrat în casă, Isus i-a luat-o înainte și i-a zis: „Ce crezi, Simone? Împărații pământului de la cine iau dări sau biruri? De la fiii lor sau de la străini?"26 Petru I-a răspuns: „De la străini." Și Isus i-a zis: „Așadar, fiii sunt scutiți.27 Dar, ca să nu-i facem să păcătuiască, du-te la mare, aruncă undița și trage afară peștele care va veni întâi. Deschide-i gura și vei găsi în ea un ban*17:27 Grecește: stater.pe care ia-l și dă-li-l lor, pentru Mine și pentru tine."
