1 In that hour came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And he called to him a little child, and set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me: 6 but whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

7 Woe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! for it must needs be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion cometh! 8 And if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed or halt, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire. 9 And if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire. 10 See that ye despise not one of these little ones: for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. 11 *18:11 Many authorities, some ancient, insert v. 11. See Luk 19:10. 12 How think ye? if any man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go unto the mountains, and seek that which goeth astray? 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth over it more than over the ninety and nine which have not gone astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

15 And if thy brother sin against thee, go, show him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he hear thee not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established. 17 And if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, What things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

21 Then came Peter and said to him, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven. 23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, who would make a reckoning with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, that owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But forasmuch as he had not wherewith to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27 And the lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred shillings: and he laid hold on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay what thou owest. 29 So his fellow-servant fell down and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee. 30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay that which was due. 31 So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were exceeding sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me: 33 shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due. 35 So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.

Dar vai*Cap. 26:24.de omul acela prin care vine prilejul de păcătuire!8 Acum, dacă*Cap. 5:29,30.Marcu 9:43,45.mâna ta sau piciorul tău te face să cazi în păcat, taie-l și leapădă-l de la tine. Este mai bine pentru tine să intri în viață șchiop sau ciung, decât să ai două mâini sau două picioare și să fii aruncat în focul veșnic.9 Și, dacă ochiul tău te face să cazi în păcat, scoate-l și leapădă-l de la tine. Este mai bine pentru tine să intri în viață numai cu un ochi, decât să ai amândoi ochii și să fii aruncat în focul gheenei.

10 Feriți-vă să nu defăimați nici măcar pe unul din acești micuți; căci vă spun că îngerii*Ps. 34:7.Zah. 13:7.Evr. 1:14.lor în ceruri văd*Est. 1:14.Luca 1:19.pururea fața Tatălui Meu, care este în ceruri.11 Fiindcă*Luca 9:56;19:10.Ioan 3:17;12:47.Fiul omului a venit să mântuiască ce era pierdut.12 Ce*Luca 15:4.credeți? Dacă un om are o sută de oi și se rătăcește una din ele, nu lasă el pe cele nouăzeci și nouă pe munți și se duce să caute pe cea rătăcită?13 Și*Lev. 19:17.Luca 17:3., dacă i se întâmplă s-o găsească, adevărat vă spun că are mai multă bucurie de ea, decât de cele nouăzeci și nouă care nu se rătăciseră.14 Tot așa, nu este voia Tatălui vostru din ceruri să piară unul măcar din acești micuți.

15 Dacă fratele tău a păcătuit împotriva ta, du-te și mustră-l între tine și el singur. Dacă te ascultă, ai*Iac. 5:20.1 Pet. 3:1.câștigat pe fratele tău.16 Dar, dacă nu te ascultă, mai ia cu tine unul sau doi inși, pentru ca orice vorbă*Deut. 17:6;19:15.Ioan 8:17.2 Cor. 13:1.Evr. 10:28.să fie sprijinită pe mărturia a doi sau trei martori.17 Dacă nu vrea să asculte de ei, spune-l Bisericii și, dacă nu vrea să asculte nici de Biserică, să fie pentru tine ca un păgân*Rom. 16:17.1 Cor. 5:9.2 Tes. 3:6,14.2 Ioan 10.și ca un vameș.18 Adevărat vă spun că orice*Cap. 16:19.Ioan 20:23.1 Cor. 5:4.veți lega pe pământ va fi legat în cer și orice veți dezlega pe pământ va fi dezlegat în cer.19 Vă*Cap. 5:24.mai spun iarăși că, dacă doi dintre voi se învoiesc pe pământ să ceară un lucru oarecare, le va fi*1 Ioan 3:22;5:14.dat de Tatăl Meu, care este în ceruri.20 Căci, acolo unde sunt doi sau trei adunați în*18:20 Grecește: pentru Numele Meu.Numele Meu, sunt și Eu în mijlocul lor."

21 Atunci, Petru s-a apropiat de El și I-a zis: „Doamne, de câte ori să iert pe fratele Meu când va păcătui împotriva mea? Până*Luca 17:4. la șapte ori?" 22 Isus i-a zis: „Eu nu-ți zic până la șapte ori, ci*Cap. 6:14.Marcu 11:25.Col. 3:13.până la șaptezeci de ori câte șapte.23 De aceea, Împărăția cerurilor se aseamănă cu un împărat care a vrut să se socotească cu robii săi.24 A început să facă socoteala și i-au adus pe unul care îi datora zece mii de galbeni*18:24 Grecește: talanți..25 Fiindcă el n-avea cu ce plăti, stăpânul lui a poruncit să-l*2 Împ. 4:1.Neem. 5:8.vândă pe el, pe nevasta lui, pe copiii lui și tot ce avea, și să se plătească datoria.26 Robul s-a aruncat la pământ, i s-a închinat și a zis: ‘Doamne, mai îngăduie-mă, și-ți voi plăti tot.’27 Stăpânul robului aceluia, făcându-i-se milă de el, i-a dat drumul și i-a iertat datoria.28 Robul acela, când a ieșit afară, a întâlnit pe unul din tovarășii lui de slujbă, care-i era dator o sută de lei. A pus mâna pe el și-l strângea de gât, zicând: ‘Plătește-mi ce-mi ești dator.’29 Tovarășul lui s-a aruncat la pământ, îl ruga și zicea: ‘Mai îngăduie-mă, și-ți voi plăti.’30 Dar el n-a vrut, ci s-a dus și l-a aruncat în temniță până va plăti datoria.31 Când au văzut tovarășii lui cele întâmplate, s-au întristat foarte mult și s-au dus de au spus stăpânului lor toate cele petrecute.32 Atunci, stăpânul a chemat la el pe robul acesta și i-a zis: ‘Rob viclean! Eu ți-am iertat toată datoria, fiindcă m-ai rugat.33 Oare nu se cădea să ai și tu milă de tovarășul tău, cum am avut eu milă de tine?’34 Și stăpânul s-a mâniat și l-a dat pe mâna chinuitorilor până va plăti tot ce datora.35 Tot așa*Prov. 21:13.
