23 Ölümden sonra diriliş olmadığını söyleyen Sadukiler, aynı gün İsaya gelip şunu sordular: ‹‹Öğretmenimiz, Musa şöyle buyurmuştur: ‹Eğer bir adam çocuk sahibi olmadan ölürse, kardeşi onun karısını alsın, soyunu sürdürsün.›

25 Aramızda yedi kardeş vardı. İlki evlendi ve öldü. Çocuğu olmadığından karısını kardeşine bıraktı.

26 İkincisi, üçüncüsü, yedincisine kadar hepsine aynı şey oldu.

27 Hepsinden sonra kadın da öldü.

28 Buna göre diriliş günü kadın bu yedi kardeşten hangisinin karısı olacak? Çünkü hepsi de onunla evlendi.››

29 İsa onlara, ‹‹Siz Kutsal Yazıları ve Tanrının gücünü bilmediğiniz için yanılıyorsunuz›› diye karşılık verdi.

30 ‹‹Dirilişten sonra insanlar ne evlenir, ne de evlendirilir, gökteki melekler gibidirler.

31 Ölülerin dirilmesi konusuna gelince, Tanrının size bildirdiği şu sözü okumadınız mı?

32 ‹Ben İbrahimin Tanrısı, İshakın Tanrısı ve Yakupun Tanrısıyım› diyor. Tanrı ölülerin değil, dirilerin Tanrısıdır.››

33 Bunları işiten halk, Onun öğretişine şaşıp kaldı.

24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.

26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.

27 And last of all the woman also died.

28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?

29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.

31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:

32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.

33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.
