1 Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.

2 We give praise to God at all times for you, keeping you in memory in our prayers;

3 Having ever in mind your work of faith and acts of love and the strength of your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

4 Being conscious, my brothers, dear to God, that you have been marked out by God's purpose;

5 Because our good news came to you, not in word only, but in power, and in the Holy Spirit, so that you were completely certain of it; even as you saw what our behaviour to you was like from our love to you.

6 And you took us and the Lord as your example, after the word had come to you in much trouble, with joy in the Holy Spirit;

7 So that you became an example to all those who have faith in Christ in Macedonia and Achaia.

8 For not only was the word of the Lord sounding out from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God is made clear; so that we have no need to say anything.

9 For they themselves give the news of how we came among you; and how you were turned from images to God, to the worship of a true and living God,

10 Waiting for his Son from heaven, who came back from the dead, even Jesus, our Saviour from the wrath to come.

1 Paulus und Silvanus und Timotheus: der Gemeinde zu Thessalonich, in GOtt dem Vater und dem HErrn JEsu Christo. Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von GOtt, unserm Vater, und dem HErrn JEsu Christo!

2 Wir danken GOtt allezeit für euch alle und gedenken euer in unserm Gebet ohne Unterlaß.

3 Und denken an euer Werk im Glauben und an eure Arbeit in der Liebe und an eure Geduld in der Hoffnung, welche ist unser HErr JEsus Christus vor GOtt und unserm Vater.

4 Denn, liebe Brüder, von GOtt geliebet, wir wissen, wie ihr auserwählet seid,

5 daß unser Evangelium ist bei euch gewesen nicht allein im Wort, sondern beide, in der Kraft und in dem Heiligen Geist und in großer Gewißheit; wie ihr wisset, welcherlei wir gewesen sind unter euch um euretwillen.

6 Und ihr seid unsere Nachfolger worden und des HErrn und habt das Wort aufgenommen unter vielen Trübsalen mit Freuden im Heiligen Geist,

7 also daß ihr worden seid ein Vorbild allen Gläubigen in Mazedonien und Achaja.

8 Denn von euch ist auserschollen das Wort des HErrn nicht allein in Mazedonien und Achaja, sondern an allen Orten ist auch euer Glaube an GOtt ausgebrochen, also daß nicht not ist, euch etwas zu sagen.

9 Denn sie selbst verkündigen von euch, was für einen Eingang wir zu euch gehabt haben, und wie ihr bekehret seid zu GOtt von den Abgöttern, zu dienen dem lebendigen und wahren GOtt

10 und zu warten seines Sohns vom Himmel, welchen er auferwecket hat von den Toten, JEsum, der uns von dem zukünftigen Zorn erlöset hat.
