1 Sede meus seguidores, como também eu o sou de Cristo.2 Ora, louvo-vos, irmãos, porque vos lembrais de mim em todas as coisas, e guardais as ordenanças, como eu as entreguei a vós.3 Mas eu quero que saibais que a cabeça de todo homem é Cristo, e a cabeça da mulher é o homem; e a cabeça de Cristo é Deus.4 Todo homem que ora ou profetiza, tendo sua cabeça coberta, desonra a sua cabeça.5 Mas toda mulher que ora ou profetiza com sua cabeça descoberta desonra a sua cabeça, porque seria como se fosse rapada.6 Pois, se a mulher não se cobre, tosquie-se também. Mas, se para a mulher é vergonha tosquiar-se ou rapar-se, que ela se cubra.7 Pois, o homem certamente não deve cobrir sua cabeça, porque ele é a imagem e glória de Deus, mas a mulher é a glória do homem.8 Porque o homem não é da mulher, mas a mulher é do homem.9 Nem foi o homem criado por causa da mulher, mas a mulher por causa do homem.10 Por esta causa a mulher deve ter poder sobre sua cabeça, por causa dos anjos.11 Todavia, nem o homem é sem a mulher, nem a mulher é sem o homem no Senhor.12 Porque, como a mulher é do homem, assim também é o homem da mulher, mas todas as coisas de Deus.13 Julgai em vós mesmos: É decente que uma mulher ore a Deus descoberta?14 Ou não vos ensina a mesma natureza que é vergonhoso para um homem ter cabelo comprido?15 Mas se uma mulher tem cabelo comprido, isso é glória para ela, pois seu cabelo lhe foi dado para se cobrir.16 Mas, se algum homem quiser ser contencioso, nós não temos tal costume, nem as igrejas de Deus.17 Ora, nisto eu declaro a vós, não vos louvo, porque não vos congregais para o melhor, mas para pior.18 Porque, primeiro de tudo, quando vos ajuntais na igreja, ouço que há divisões entre vós, e em parte eu acredito.19 Porque também é necessário haver heresias entre vós, para que os que são aprovados se manifestem entre vós.20 Portanto, quando vos ajuntais em um lugar, isto não é para comer a ceia do Senhor.21 Porque ao comer, cada um toma antes do outro a sua própria ceia; e um tem fome, e outro está embriagado.22 Não tendes, porventura, casas para comer e para beber? Ou desprezais a igreja de Deus e envergonhais aos que não têm? O que vos direi? Devo louvar-vos? Eu não vos louvo.23 Porque eu recebi do Senhor o que também vos entreguei: Que o Senhor Jesus, na mesma noite em que ele foi traído, tomou pão;24 e tendo dado graças, ele o partiu, e disse: Tomai, comei; isto é o meu corpo que é partido por vós; fazei isto em memória de mim.25 Depois, da mesma maneira também, ele tomou o cálice, depois de cear, dizendo: Este cálice é o novo testamento no meu sangue; fazei isto, todas as vezes que o beberdes, em memória de mim.26 Porque todas as vezes que comerdes este pão, e beberdes este cálice, proclamais a morte do Senhor, até que ele venha.27 Portanto, qualquer que comer este pão e beber este cálice do Senhor indignamente, será culpado do corpo e do sangue do Senhor.28 Mas, examine-se o homem a si mesmo, e assim coma deste pão, e beba deste cálice.29 Porque aquele que come e bebe indignamente, come e bebe condenação para si mesmo, não discernindo o corpo do Senhor.30 Por causa disso, muitos estão fracos e enfermos entre vós, e muitos dormem.31 Porque, se julgássemos a nós mesmos, não seríamos julgados.32 Mas, quando somos julgados, somos disciplinados pelo Senhor, para não sermos condenados com o mundo.33 Portanto, meus irmãos, quando vos ajuntais para comer, esperai uns pelos outros.34 Mas, se algum homem tiver fome, coma em casa, para que não vos ajunteis para condenação. Quanto ao restante, colocarei em ordem quando eu chegar.

1 Become imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.2 Now I praise you, brethren; because, in all things you remember me, and hold fast the traditions as I delivered them to you.3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.4 Every man who prays, or prophesies, having his head covered, dishonors his head.5 And every woman who prays, or prophesies, with her head uncovered, dishonors her head. Besides, it is one and the same, with being shaved.6 Wherefore, if a woman be not veiled, even let her be shorn: but, if it be shame for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be veiled.7 Now, man, indeed, ought not to cover the head, being the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.8 Besides the man is not of the woman; but the woman is of the man.9 And, also, the man was not created for the woman, but the woman for the man.10 For this reason, ought the woman to have a vail on her head, on account of the messengers.11 However, neither is the man, without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord.12 Besides, as the woman is from the man, so also, the man is by the woman; but all from God.13 Judge in yourselves, is it decent that a woman pray to God unveiled?14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if, indeed, a man have long hair, it is a disgrace to him?15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given to her for a vail.16 However, if any one resolve to be contentious, we have no such custom; neither the congregations of God.17 Now, in declaring this, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse, I do not praise you.18 For, first, indeed, I hear, that when you come together in the congregation, there are schisms among you; and I partly believe it.19 For there must even be sects among you, that the approved among you may be made manifest.20 But your coming together into one place, is not to eat the Lord's supper.21 For, in eating it, every one takes first his own supper; and one, indeed, is hungry, and another is filled.22 What! have you not houses, to eat and to drink in? or, do you despise the congregation of God and put to shame those who have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this, I praise you not.23 For I received from the Lord what, also, I delivered to you; that the Lord Jesus, in the night in which we was betrayed, took a loaf;24 and, having given thanks, he broke it; and said, Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you: do this in remembrance of me.25 In like manner, also, the cup, after he had supped; saying, This cup is the new institution in my blood: do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.26 For as often as you eat this loaf, and drink this cup, you openly publish the death of the Lord, until he come.27 So, then, whosoever shall eat this loaf, and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.28 But let a man examine himself, and then let him eat of the loaf, and drink of the cup.29 For he who eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not distinguishing the body of the Lord.30 For this cause, many among you are weak and sick, and a considerable number are fallen asleep.31 But if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.32 Yet, when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected, that we may not be condemned with the world.33 Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for each other.34 And if any one hunger, let him eat at home, that you may not come together for judgment. And the other things I will set in order when I come.
