1 行为完全的穷人，

胜过说话欺诈的愚昧人。

2 一个人没有知识是不好的，

脚步匆忙的，难免失足。

3 人的愚妄毁灭自己的道路；

他的心却恼怒耶和华。

4 财富使朋友增多，

但穷人连他的一个朋友也与他分离。

5 作假见证的必难免受惩罚；

吐出谎言的必不能逃脱。

6 尊贵的人，很多人求他的情面；

慷慨施赠的，人人都作他的朋友。

7 贫穷人的兄弟都恨他；

他的朋友更疏远他。

虽然他多多恳求他们，他们却不理会。

8 得着智慧的，爱惜自己的性命；

保持明达的，必得益处。

9 作假见证的必难免受惩罚；

吐出谎言的终必灭亡。

10 愚昧人生活奢侈是不相称的，

何况奴仆管辖领袖呢！

11 人的明慧使他不轻易动怒；

宽恕别人过失的，是自己的荣耀。

12 王的忿怒，好象狮子的吼叫，

他的恩宠，如同草上的朝露。

13 愚昧的儿子是父亲的祸患，

吵闹的妻子好象雨水不停地滴漏。

14 房屋与财富是祖宗遗留的产业；

唯有明慧的妻子是耶和华所赐的。

15 懒惰使人沉睡，

闲懒的人必受饥饿。

16 谨守诫命的，保全自己的性命；

轻忽自己道路的，必致死亡。

17 恩待穷人的，等于借钱给耶和华；

他所行的，耶和华必偿还。

18 趁着还有指望的时候，要管教你的儿子；

不可存心使他死亡。

19 常发烈怒的人，必须受罚，

如果你帮助他，就必须一而再帮助他。

20 你要听劝告，受管教，

好使你将来作个有智慧的人。

21 人心里的谋算很多，

唯有耶和华的计划能实现。

22 人所渴望的，就是忠诚；

作穷人比作撒谎的人还好。

23 敬畏耶和华的，得着生命；

他必安居知足，不会遭受祸患。

24 懒惰人把手放在盘子里，

连拿食物送回口边，也不愿意。

25 责打好讥笑人的，愚蒙人就会变得精明；

责备聪明人，他就会明白知识。

26 虐待父亲，赶走母亲的，

是贻羞可耻的儿子。

27 我儿，你若是停止听受管教，

就会偏离知识的言语。

28 无赖作见证，嘲笑公平，

恶人的口，吞吃罪孽。

29 刑罚是为好讥笑人的预备的，

鞭打是为愚昧人的背预备的。
