1 În anul al zecelea, în ziua a douăsprezecea a lunii a zecea, Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:
2 ,,Fiul omului, întoarce-te cu faţa spre Faraon, împăratul Egiptului, şi prooroceşte împotriva lui şi împotriva întregului Egipt!
3 Vorbeşte, şi spune: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,Iată că am necaz pe tine, Faraoane, împăratul Egiptului, crocodil mare, care te culci în mijlocul rîurilor tale, şi zici: ,Rîul meu Nilul este al meu, eu l-am făcut!`
4 Îţi voi pune însă un cîrlig în fălci, voi lipi peştii rîurilor tale de solzii tăi, şi te voi scoate din mijlocul rîurilor tale, cu toţi peştii cari se află în ele, şi cari se vor lipi de solzii tăi.
5 Te voi arunca în pustie, pe tine şi pe toţi peştii din rîurile tale. Vei cădea pe faţa ogoarelor, nu vei fi ridicat, nici îngropat; ci te voi da de mîncare fiarelor pămîntului şi păsărilor cerului.
6 Şi toţi locuitorii Egiptului vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul, pentrucă au fost o proptea de trestie pentru casa lui Israel.
7 Cînd au pus mîna pe tine, te-ai rupt, şi le-ai străpuns tot umărul; cînd s'au proptit de tine, te-ai sfărîmat, şi le-ai scrintit şoldurile.`
8 De aceea aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu: ,Iată, voi aduce sabia împotriva ta, şi voi nimici cu desăvîrşire din mijlocul tău oamenii şi vitele.
9 Ţara Egiptului va ajunge o pustietate şi un pustiu, şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul, pentru că a zis: ,Nilul este al meu, eu l-am făcut!`
10 De aceea iată că am necaz pe tine şi pe rîurile tale, şi voi preface ţara Egiptului într'un pustiu şi într'o pustietate,
11 Nici picior de om nu va trece prin ea, nici picior de vită nu va trece prin ea, şi va rămînea patru zeci de ani fără să fie locuită.
12 Voi preface ţara Egiptului într -o pustietate în mijlocul altor ţări pustiite, şi cetăţile ei vor fi pustii între alte cetăţi pustii, timp de patruzeci de ani. Iar pe Egipteni îi voi risipi printre neamuri, şi -i voi împrăştia în felurite ţări.
13 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,După patru zeci de ani, voi strînge pe Egipteni din mijlocul popoarelor între cari îi voi risipi.
14 Voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii de război ai Egiptului, îi voi aduce înapoi în ţara Patros, în ţara lor de baştină, şi vor alcătui acolo o împărăţie slabă.
15 Da, va fi cea mai neînsemnată dintre împărăţii, şi nu se va mai înălţa peste neamuri; îi voi împuţina, ca să nu stăpînească peste neamuri.
16 Împărăţia aceasta nu va mai fi pentru casa lui Israel o pricină de încredere; ci îi va aduce aminte de nelegiuirea ei, cînd se întorcea spre ei. Şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeu.`
17 În al douăzeci şi şaptelea an, în ziua întîi a lunii întîi, Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:
18 ,Fiul omului, Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi -a pus oastea să facă o slujbă grea împotriva Tirului. Toate capetele au ajuns pleşuve, toţi umerii sînt jupuiţi, şi n'a luat dela Tir nicio plată, nici el, nici oastea lui, pentru slujba pe care a făcut -o împotriva lui.
19 De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu: ,Iată că dau lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, ţara Egiptului; el îi va ridica bogăţiile, o va prăda, şi o va jăfui; aceasta va fi plata oastei lui!
20 Ca plată pentru slujba făcută împotriva Tirului, îi dau ţara Egiptului; căci pentru Mine s'au ostenit, zice Domnul Dumnezeu.
21 ,În ziua aceea, voi da tărie casei lui Israel, şi-ţi voi deschide gura veselă în mijlocul lor; şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul.`
1 In the tenth year, in the tenth [month], in the twelfth of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying,
2 `Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy concerning him, and concerning Egypt -- all of it.
3 Speak, and thou hast said: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I [am] against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt! The great dragon that is crouching in the midst of his floods, Who hath said, My flood [is] my own, And I -- I have made it [for] myself.
4 And I have put hooks in thy jaws, And I have caused the fish of thy floods to cleave to thy scales, And I have caused thee to come up from the midst of thy floods, And every fish of thy floods to thy scales doth cleave.
5 And I have left thee in the wilderness, Thou and every fish of thy floods, On the face of the field thou dost fall, Thou art not gathered nor assembled, To the beast of the earth and to the fowl of the heavens I have given thee for food.
6 And known have all inhabitants of Egypt That I [am] Jehovah, Because of their being a staff of reed to the house of Israel.
7 In their taking hold of thee by thy hand, -- thou art crushed, And hast rent to them all the shoulder, And in their leaning on thee thou art broken, And hast caused all their thighs to stand.
8 Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am bringing in against thee a sword, And have cut off from thee man and beast.
9 And the land of Egypt hath been for a desolation and a waste, And they have known that I [am] Jehovah. Because he said: The flood [is] mine, and I made [it].
10 Therefore, lo, I [am] against thee, and against thy floods, And have given the land of Egypt for wastes, A waste, a desolation, from Migdol to Syene, And unto the border of Cush.
11 Not pass over into it doth a foot of man, Yea, the foot of beast doth not pass into it, Nor is it inhabited forty years.
12 And I have made the land of Egypt a desolation, In the midst of desolate lands, And its cities, in the midst of waste cities, Are a desolation forty years, And I have scattered the Egyptians among nations, And I have dispersed them through lands.
13 But thus said the Lord Jehovah: At the end of forty years I gather the Egyptians Out of the peoples whither they have been scattered,
14 And I have turned back [to] the captivity of Egypt, And I have brought them back [To] the land of Pathros, to the land of their birth, And they have been there a low kingdom.
15 Of the kingdoms it is lowest, And it lifteth not up itself any more above the nations, And I have made them few, So as not to rule among nations.
16 And it is no more to the house of Israel for a confidence, Bringing iniquity to remembrance, By their turning after them, And they have known that I [am] the Lord Jehovah.`
17 And it cometh to pass, in the twenty and seventh year, in the first [month], in the first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying:
18 `Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Hath caused his force to serve a great service against Tyre, Every head [is] bald -- every shoulder peeled, And reward he had none, nor his force, out of Tyre, For the service that he served against it.
19 Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah, Lo, I am giving to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon the land of Egypt, And he hath taken away its store, And hath taken its spoil, and taken its prey, And it hath been a reward to his force.
20 His wage for which he laboured I have given to him, The land of Egypt -- in that they wrought for Me, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
21 In that day I cause to shoot up a horn to the house of Israel, And to thee I give an opening of the mouth in their midst, And they have known that I [am] Jehovah!`
